We all know the first 30 days are critical to changing any bad habit -- or making good ones. That's why I was so interested in getting my hands on The Biggest Loser 30-Day Jump Start. I was not disappointed.
This book is a fantastic launch pad for people who want to lose weight, get healthy and make rapid, comprehensive lifestyle changes related to wellness. Using real contestants as peer models (including past winner Ali Vincent, who seems to be becoming the poster child of the franchise), the 30-Day Jump Start provides a month-long day-by-day meal plan and exercise routine. Both are diverse and easy to follow.
The fitness components are illustrated through step-by-step photograph sequences, making them extremely user-friendly. The workouts start slow and build rapidly, including strength training and cardiovascular activity, and include some modifications.
The menus and recipes are also good. I noticed a few repeats from recipes used in other Biggest Loser books, but there's not much overlap.
Overall, this is an exceptional guide for beginning dieters or anyone needing a refresher on the basics of nutrition and exercise for weight loss. It's full of encouragement, sound advice and practical tips, and I will be recommending it to friends.
