I'm a college student, been living in one city for several years, but am currently visiting my parents, in a different zip code. Tomorrow, I will be going to another zip code, but not by way of the zip code I am currently living in.
I just printed off mailing sheets (with postage and DC printed on them) for two books that I'm mailing out. One of them, I caught that I needed to change the mailing date to Friday, which is when I will be back in my zip code. However, I didn't catch that on the other one, and it says that my mailing date is tomorrow, Wednesday. However, it also says "Mailed from *my zip code*"
I know, from reading through this forum the other day, that it is important to mail the package on or before the day printed on the postage in order to ensure that the USPS looks good, through their tracking the speed of the delivery of the package. However, how particular are they on the zip code? I can wait to mail that one book on Friday, no problem, but now I NEED to get this one book in the mail tomorrow... but I"m not going to be in my zip code tomorrow! Is it okay to mail it from the "wrong" zip code? Not that I have much of a choice, but...
I just want to make sure I"m not stepping on USPS toes, here. Thanks in advance to whomever may ease my conscience - or make it worse, as the case may be!
Oops... I didn't put a subject on it! Sorry for making it harder to click into...
In any case, I just clicked back through 5 pages (having gone through 3 before posting this subject), and finally found a thread that already dealt with this topic. So, it looks like this will be okay, as long as I don't make a habit of it... So if you know of a reason why it's NOT okay, please let me know (for future reference), but otherwise I think I'm feeling pretty good about it.
So...I think your question is whether you can mail a book with your zip code from outside your zip code? I think the answer to that is yes. I don't use PBS postage, though, so I'm not entirely sure I'm correct about this. However, I do often mail books from my office, which is a different zip code than my home address and have never had any problems.
Hope that helps! Welcome to PBS!
