I was watching this show last night on the History Channel.  The gadgets were rated by top scientists and engineers and listed by Popular Mechanics.  Guess what number 52 was????

The KINDLE!   Yeah :)  They said that it's capacity to hold thousands of books has revolutionized the way people read and that it can hold more more books than most people read in three lifetimes (guess that make us NOT most people, huh :)

That's kind of a bummer on my end, 'cause I know the Kindle was no where near the first ebook reader. They came in after ebooks, and readers, had already hit the market and broke new ground. I guess they're just better known of them all. Kind of a shame the early pioneers don't get any credit.

Yeah, that 'three lifetimes' thing does make me smile. Guess it depends on whose lifetimes your talking about. lol.

But it's gadgets that changed the world- and the early ones didn't. The Kindle is the one that everybody knows, just like the Ipod and the Blackberry. No one talks about the  Palm Treo either.
