Just thought I would start a thread for those of you that will be doing NaNO this year, both officially and unofficially.

So if you are doing it this year or just wish to cheer others on, please post.

Those who are doing it, if you wish to give your NaNO sign in name I will add you to my buddy list.

Also if you have an idea of what you might be writing about, I am sure others would like to hear about it.

I myself have done and won NaNO 07 and 06, I am active in my local group and surprise myself with how much coffee I can drink when other times during the year I do not touch the stuff.. I;ve not had coffee since November last year..LOL

Has there ever been a PBS NaNO group on the NaNO forums? NaNO is where I found out about PBS.

My NaNO name is xengab and xenacat (I will try for two novels again this year)

I have only a vague idea about what I will be writing about for one story and a fully formed idea for the second novel.

Garden gnomes as spys, and solving crimes for the United Nations is the basic plot.

Second one I am thinking of doing a vampire story set in ancient Greece.

So anyone for NaNO?????

Hey,

I was planning on doing it this year ( I haven't done it yet) but I'm taking two writing classes and working and I won't have time.  Good luck!

My  name on NaNo is Mssaya

I'm ceebab on Nano, too.

I'm not sure.  I just started a novel this month, so it depends if I manage to finish it before Nano.  If I so, NaNo would be a nice break to try something new.

If not, I like this idea too much to abandon it, but I will probably lurk around the site and see if the local group will let me come write with them anyhow.  Kind of do it, but unofficially since working on something you started before November is against the rules.

I nanowrimo last year  and won. I plan on doing it again this year.  I am elegantlion over there.  I've been working on NaNoWriYe and have 2 WIPs almost  completed in rough draft.

I have a vague idea of what I'm going to be writing about this year, but it is subject to change until Nov 1.

I'm planning to do it this year. I am lonelyfilly there also. I have tried it a couple times in the past, and haven't been able to finish yet. This year I am more determined!!

I'm thinking about using the idea I came up with while we were getting hit by Ike. People taking shelter in a haunted icehouse during a hurricane, and having very strange and deadly things happen while they are in there.

Good luck to everyone who's planning to do it this year.

I was able to add everyone but Jennifer, for some reason I cannot find you on the NaNO search.  But I think if you add me it will let me add you.

Last year was my first year trying.  It didn't go so well because we had just moved and I was trying to get everything settled.  Now it looks like November is the month we are moving again.  So I will attempt but I don't have high hopes for it.  My nanowrimo name is starr4all

I've been doing Nano since 2003, and have won every time. I'm looking forward to this year; I've started my outline already :)

I've always thought about doing it but never have. Maybe I should give it a try this year. My only problem is I have no idea for a project.

I had never even heard of NaNoWriMo until I read it here on this board--so I signed up!   I am actually trying to get a work in progress finished up before it starts so I don't get distracted with two stories.  I have a pretty good idea what I am going to write about--it is pretty trite and predictable, but I figured I would go safe for my first year . . . so it is a "star-crossed lovers" kind of story.

I am mizzbee and would love some buddies since I just signed up.

I decided to sign up also. I have the same user name there ... theraven.

I tried adding everyone but I was only able to add two people to my buddy list. For some reason, the other user names don't come up.

Hello theraven,

I see you on my list titled "buddy of", so it seems your efforts were successful.  If you have too many buddies, they will not show up on the front page, you will have to click "Writing buddies" under "Edit info" in red on the left hand side of your profile page.

So excited to get started!!!  Now I have to work on my outline.

I'm Lanica on that site. I've just joined. I thought about trying last year, but my kids were only a few months old. I'll give it a go this year, although I have no idea how much I can write around taking care of 1 year old twins. Perhaps I'll make them the central theme of my book...or perhaps not. Heh.

1 year old twins?!  Wow!  But I still think you can do it.  My son is 2 1/2 now and I won last year.  Granted I have a job that includes commute time on public transportation (perfect for typing), but if you start outlining now, you only need one good nap time to get your 1667 words a day.  :-)

I always aim for 2,000 words a day for the first week since that is when you have the most drive to write, it then gives you alittle cushioning if something should come up and you are unable to write for a day.  Plus if you do keep up at this pace you will finish easily before the 30th.

Twins, man hope you can type fast during nap time and they do not stay up late at nightimes..  Goodluck!

I had never heard of this either and decided to sign up...my username is matthcarl.  I have had a novel idea floating around in my head for a long time, and have started it a few times.  I got up to 8,000 words once before deleting it.  I guess I am too much of a perfectonist.  I think this is the motivation I need to work out the story more fully, without worrying about its being perfect.  I tend to write very fast once I have things worked out in my head, but I have to admit, 50,000 words in a month seems like it will be tough.

(Which is awesome!)

Edit - By the way, 11/30 is my birthday.  Perfect.

This will be my second NaNo year.  I had a great time doing it last year!  My name there is dwoytek.  Or dewoytek?  One of the two :)  I'd love to have PBS buddies.

We should start a group thread on the Writers Groups section of the NaNo forums.  Any thoughts on this?
