This thread is for the 2012 Christian Reading Challenge beginning January 1, 2012, and is for your LISTS ONLY. Anyone can join in at any time (after Jan 1 of course) This year I decided that instead of the Challenge being for fiction only, to incorporate a couple of categories that would apply to non-fiction and one category for audio books. In order to successfully complete the challenge, you will need to choose 14 categories out of the 20 categories listed below. For those of you who want to do all 20, that is wonderful and highly recommended! You can fill in your lists before the challenge starts, or you can fill it in as you go along. And, of course, you can change your lists up as time goes along too. You are not locked into your choices if you make them now. You are welcome to add your own categories to your list or if you would like you can send me a PM and I will see about adding them to the main list. All of the categories pertain to Christian books only, whether they are fiction or non-fiction. Copy and Paste the following to set up your list: 1. Read More Books in 2012 that 2011 2. NICE TA MEETCHA! Read a CF book that is written by an author you've never read before
3. Knowledge is Power: Read a commentary on either your favorite book of the bible or the book that you have the most trouble trying to 4. AH, THAT NEW-BOOK SMELL Read a new release for 2012
5. Stretch Your Imagination: Read a book by a lesser know publishing house such as the following. These are examples and you aren't limited to them:
6. Walk the walk and Talk the Talk: Read a book that will help to encourage you to overcome your fear to go into the world as Jesus 7. Read a Christian Classic: whether fiction or non-fiction 8. Did you ever want to be a Cowboy: Read a western and not one just set in the west! 9. Ho, Ho, Ho!!! Read a book that centers around a holiday or celebration 10. Does your spirit feel like it needs a lift: Read a book that has the intention of refreshing your soul 11. Are you an Activist? Read a Legal/Political Thriller 12. An apple a day keeps the doctor away: Read a fiction book that centers on the medical field 13. He Shall Come as a Thief in the Night: Read a Prophecy/End Times/Apocalyptic 14. Faith Comes By Hearing: Listen to an Audio Book, fiction or non-fiction as long as it is Christian 15. Salute to Our Heroes: Read a Military or Police Action book (would also include EMTs and firemen) 16. A Merry Heart Does You Good: Read a comedy and brighten your day (fiction or non) 17. I Feel Pretty: Read a chick-lit 18. Whole, Not in Part: Read a complete series in 2012 (minimum 3 to make a series) 19. You Like me, You Really Like Me: Read a Christy Award or INSPY awards http://inspys.com http://www.christyawards.com 20. I Can't Believe I Read the Whole Thing: Read a book over 400 pages
Bonus Categories: Read 10 oldest on your TBR Gift a friend (you would need their address) with a book from their WL anonymously. "More blessed to give than to receive" Post a book review to the review thread for 2012. Others are always interested in hearing if a book is good, especially if it is a new author or from a genre not usually read.

I lost my list while editing it. I've attempted to recreate it. There may not be as much information provided but this is the best I can do with this old memory.
Read 10 oldest on your TBR: I’ve read the ten oldest but I can’t remember them all to recreate this part of my list. Trust me please. Gift a friend: I did this last January…….I mailed a book from my DD’s wishlist to her……….I've also shared a couple Love Find You books with PBS friends just because........
Post a book review to the review thread for 2012. I reviewed I Ain't Comin Back

5. Stretch Your Imagination: Read a book by a lesser know publishing house such as the following. These are examples and you aren't limited to them: The Vision by Debi Pearl and published by Pearl Books---This was an unusual book that I had a little trouble following. It was prophetic and a bit doomsdayish. It is different from most Christian Fiction I have read. The chapters are broken up into segments that jump from one scenario to another. Some people like that but it was difficult for me to keep up with all the people and the things they were involved with. Destiny Junction by Michael Phillips--published by Destiny Image--This was an excellent book. It is about the sudden death of a young lady and the impact her death had on those who knew her or had a chance meeting with her. It causes one to think about their own standing with God and how to know God better. This is a book I am considering keeping and reading again or giving to someone that is unsure of their standing with God. Excellent read for anyone.
6. Walk the walk and Talk the Talk: Read a book that will help to encourage you to overcome your fear to go into the world as Jesus 7. Read a Christian Classic: whether fiction or non-fiction The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis (Dec. 2012) 8. Did you ever want to be a Cowboy: Read a western and not one just set in the west! Read a book that centers around a holiday or celebration The Christmas Singing by Cindy Woodsmall (July 2012) 10. Does your spirit feel like it needs a lift: Read a book that has the intention of refreshing your soul Master Potter by Jill Austin (9/12) 11. Are you an Activist? Read a Legal/Political Thriller Salty Like Blood by Harry Kraus, MD centered on the disappearance of a young girl and her father's quest to find her (10/12) 12. I'm not sure I posted the review in the right place but I did write one for The Virtuous Woman by Vicki Courtney. It was an excellent read and I recommend it to every woman out there. It will inspire and encourage you as you walk out your role as a woman. Also, wrote a review of Not in the Heart by Chris Fabry.

I want to say thank you for starting this challenge. It has motivated me to read several books I have had on my shelf for a looong time. The one I finished today was such a great book and was so encouraging. I had no idea it would be so enjoyable. I hope more people will get involved and write reviews as well so I can see what books might be good to read next. |

Are you going to do this challenge again for 2013? If so I'd like to be involved. I've never done a challenge on here yet and sounds fun! :) |
