Hi Diane and everyone on the 2012 challenge. Will there be one for 2013? I think I'll manage a "lite" for 2012. I find that ahe non-fiction is a good balance for me. Hope to see something for 2013??

Best,

Janet E

Hi Janet, yes, for sure we'll have a challenge--does anyone want to have a different format?  Either more specific categories or categories that are creative in the way that some of the other challenges are?  Or should we just repeat the same categories as this year?

Or, some combination of the same categories with something else thrown in?  Is anyone creative out there?  Or are we nonfiction people more literal than creative? LOL

I'm happy to offer credits for participation again--I love reading all the comments about what everyone is reading!

Diane

So no one has any bright ideas about things we can add/change?

If not, I'll try to think up some bonus categories by the end of the week.

I have no problem with the same format and categories as this years.  If you ask me, some challenges I've seen go off the deep end trying to be creative. All the possible configurations just become a muddle. For me, simple is better.  I just want to get on with the reading don't you?!  A little bit of flexibility built in is great, but don't let's go nuts.

there are some categories -- True crime and sports -- that I'll probably not fill but if you keep it at 16 choices I know I can fill others. My sense is that other participants willl take up this challenge.

I'll do it again.  Even though I won't complete all 16 categories for this year it has challenged me to do some really interesting reading. And it's spurring me to see just how far I can actually get before the year ends.

I am definitely in for next year, as this year's non-fiction challenge may be the only challenge I will finish successfully in 2012!  smiley  I like the format just fine, it might be neat to change up a few of the categories though.

I always appreciate a "wild card" option for those books I wasn't planning on reading but attracted me at the bookstore or here based on reviews, cover art, etc. I'm easily swayed sometimes :-)
