Here is our reading challenge for 2013.  It will start January 1, 2013. You can start stockpiling your books. Can someone make a banner I do not know how? Let me know if you have any questions.  I kept a few of my favorite catogories from last year and used your suggestions for new categories. I added two bonus. Reduced from 100 WL to 75 as a lot of paranormal do not make it to 100 WL. Enjoy

Alice

I would be very interested in doing this. When it starts, do you just post the books you have read and what category they fall under?

Jennifer

Go to the list topic

2013 Paranormal Reading Lists

Save yourself a space. I copy the list from the first post and fill the books as I read them.

Dumb questions, as I have not done this one before:

Do you have to pre-list what you're going to read, or can I just fill in as the books show up and I read them?

Do you have all year?

Do you pay credits?

Are there prizes?

Hi Amy and Heather,

You can list the books as you read them that is what I do. some folks like to pick out their books ahead of time.

No credits it is just a challenge, no prizes other than knowing you have a read a lot of books. You can look up in the paranormal forum and see the 2012 list so you see what folks were reading.

You have the entire 2013 to finish the challenge.

For 2012 I have one zombie book left to finish the entire challenge but I hate zombies so not sure if I will get to it.

Yes we start on January 1st.

I tried to combine a couple of categories this year to make it easier for folks who aren't thrilled with a subgenre. Like steampunk and paranormal mystery.

Hope you all enjoy it.

Alice

Oh thank heavens I'm not the only one who doesn't like zombies.  Two Weeks Notice was a turn off for me.

Nope RF I had a really hard time finding Zombies for last year too.  I streched one to fit, really wanted to read the last Forest of Hands and Teeth, but Feed for me was hard to get through.  I guess I'll have to try the next in the feed series but since its says end of the world I might be able to read something that doesn't inclued zombies : )

Another question - can the same book count twice?  Like if it has 75+ WL AND is female lead charactor?

I was really excited to have zombies on the list last year because I'd never read them and this challenge for me really gets me away from my comfort zone (shifters). Unfortunately I just couldn't get into zombie books. I do love steampunk and again, I wouldn't have tried it if it wasn't for this challenge. Thanks again Alice.

Amy generally folks only use a book once, but it is your challenge so you can do what you want.

I don't like Zombies either.  I'm weird (which isn't shocking).....I like vampires, werewolves and demons.  Everything else I'm not a huge fan of.  For some reason I can wrap my head around the likelihood that those three could exist (seriously?), but no others.  smiley

I'm new here and would love to do the challenge. Can you tell me what a 75 WL or 100 WL refers to?

thanks

WL = wish list, so those would be books that have a wish list of 75 or 100.

Well I just filled in all my books for the reading challenge next year.  I did every section except the bonus section on 75 wl or higher.  I figured I'd wait until I read a book that fit to put them in other wise I'd be cross checking to make sure the book still had 75 wishers.  There might be a few I changes as the year goes on but those have been on my tbr longest and I'd really like to get them done so I'm going to try to stick to the list and read those first : )

Alice I put Second Grave on the Left as an Odd Ball Character does everyone else consider Grimm Reaper an odd ball character or was it just me?  Also let me know how you like Frost Moon by Anthony Francis I've had it for the kindle since shortly after it came out but I've never gotten around to reading it and I can move one of my badass's too the 75 or higher and read it for that since its got the tattoo.

Elizabeth I would say Grimm Reaper would be an odd ball. I have been keeping my oddball books aside because I do not have that many of them. I am liking Frost Moon so far. It is a bit different fresh voice.  I'll let you know how it is when I am done.
