A member did a 3 for 1 deal for her birthday special and tonight is the last night for them to accept. If they do not accept the book and it goes on to the next person. My question is that I know some people are really fast at accepting and printing the label so what happens if this occurs? |

The PBS system has no way track special deals. So if they time-out, deals are treated as any other transaction and will roll over to the next member (multiples will most likely be seperated into individual transactions). |

put your account on Vacation Hold for the night and remove those books from your wishlist if they are not ones you've been waiting on and may not want to order outside of a deal. Putting the account on Vacation hold will prevent these orders from moving on to the next sender if the person offering the deal does not respond. |

Yea, they're not ones I would order outside of a deal. Okay, guess I'll put my account on vacation hold for the night and see what happens then. Thanks. |

If it is a book that is available in the system a Vacation Hold will not stop the request from rolling over, that only works on Wish List books and usually 3/1 deals don't involve WL books. It would probably be safest to cancel the request before going to bed and PM the deal offering member. You can always re-request it from their shelf when you hear from them. If you don't cancel and it rolls to someone who accepts/prints/mails quickly you will be getting the requested book for a credit and no freebies. |

If they haven't accepted the book request then you should be able to just cancel it now. A requestor can cancel a book request up until the sender has printed the label.

You have to be faster than the new sender and get in there and cancel the transaction. If not, you'll be out the 1 credit and not get a deal. You might want to send her a PM and remind her. Kellie |

Really? I have never had a transaction request stopped by the system. I can request a book any time I want to while on Vacation Hold and have done it frequently. The Vacation Hold should only stop offers from your Bookshelf or Wish List book requests that are not set to auto-request. Last Edited on: 5/2/11 6:55 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I agree with Melanie. A vacation hold will not help stop a transaction already in progress. |

" I agree with Melanie. A vacation hold will not help stop a transaction already in progress." All I can base my information on is that is how it has worked every time for me.

Christy, I am not ignoring anyone! haha PS- This has happened to me a couple of times. I suddenly have books coming from different people instead of the deal group. It can be very confusing. The roll over, who cancels, etc., you have to be careful I guess. Last Edited on: 5/2/11 9:56 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Vacation holds are to stop new incoming requests from your bookshelf. It is not for stopping a request that you made. Once the request is started, a vacation hold will not stop it. Last Edited on: 5/3/11 9:06 AM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Not to argue with you Kellie but, Vacation Hold has ALWAYS prevented rollovers on my account....maybe it doesn't for yours but, it does for mine. |

Different experiences here . . . does auto-request make a difference? Thought I'd heard at one time that it will??? |

It does when the book is a Wish List book Denise, but the book in the OP is just a regular book available in the system so auto-request wouldn't come into play. This is what Vaction Hold is supposed to do: Why use the Vacation/Hold feature?
It is a function on the Bookshelf, it shouldn't affect a person's outgoing requests as long as another copy is available. |
