Hi All,

You think you've seen it all and then this.  I ordered a book, a cookbook no less, and it arrived in a cereal box (tiny address label barely hanging on) with THE CEREAL as the packing material!!   When I opened my mailbox, the darned stuff started falling out on the ground.   The corners on two ends were COMPLETELY TORN OFF.   I'm looking around for the Mail Lady thinking this is some kinda joke.   You can't make this stuff up....And here I've been worrying about using brown paper bags that are too flimsy.... my book still smells like Corn Puffs.....

Anyway,  until further notice,   I'm offering 2 for 1 on EVERYTHING but the hardbacks,  so  just pm me with your freebie.  This is my first book bazaar, so be gentle with me.

Update: Romances and women's lit are 3 for 1 and  other paperbacks still 2 for 1, but just ask if you wanna make a deal!

4-8-09 UPDATE: Shelf updated,    Thanks so much, this has been a hoot, can't wait for the next installment!

Try to hang in there and read al the posts.....you guys are hysterical.  Can't beat a cheap laugh!

The other day, I got a bunch of books that were put in a large envelope, which was then put in a bigger envelope full of insulation!  The newspaper kind!  I had to tear it to open it, so the room was filled with this cloud of insulation dust!

Ha ha ha,

Maybe if I had been you I could have used the 10 year old prescription for XANAX I found in one of my books.

It definitely boosts my confidence in the considerate way I try to package my books.  So...while you're at it, check out my shelf.  I'll go 2/1 as well.

What about getting a book completely wrapped in Duct tape about 3 layers deep?  That is my favorite so far...

i sometimes use brown paper bags...but i usually just buy the rolls of the brown paper...craft paper....

i got one of those insulation powdery dusty envelopes once... hmmmm.... stuff went everywhere when i cut it open...

one thing i do NOT like.. is when i get a book wrapped just in the white paper the order was printed on.... how can 1 sheet of white printer paper cover a book correctly?? usually the books arrive beat up and the 1 white sheet torn  : (

yea, and then you get this feeble half-opened, crinckled piece of paper for a wrapper (take a breath here)  poor, pitiful looking little book that has just survived all odds to get to you........these little guys really do take a lot of abuse, ya know.....

ya know, being totally serious here, I've taken my daughters strawberry poptart box,  wiped out the crumbs, gave it a sniff-test for good measure, turned it INSIDE OUT, wrapped my book well in a clear plastic notebook paper sleeve you buy by the package (1penny each) then packed the box with bubble wrap or fortified w/more cardboard and/or plastic bags, use sufficient clear mailing tape to seal all corners, seams, label surfaces....and I've not had one complaint...in fact, a few kudos.   But if strawberry is not your thing, I'm  sure any flavor will do....!

Okay, I must be one of those senders.  If I'm out of envelops rec'd (not often)...or I have an especially fragile dvd or book, then I WILL look for a book out of my recycling.  Assuming of course that it is clean and empty.  I just figure the square corners give the exact extra protection I was looking for!

sorry Julie, it's those pesky corners that get hung up and torn up....unless they are reallllllllly fortified,,,,,,,and no, not shreaded wheat!  Sorry, it couldn't be helped.  When I've used a box (inside out), I just tape those corners down. My sister used to live overseas, and I learned well the ins and outs of mailing packages that would SURVIVE! Thanks for posting.
