There is a book on my wish list that I have been offered 3 times, I've accepted each time. and each time it gets canceled. This is the message I get: " The sender did not mail the book within the allotted time and the request has been canceled.

Since no other copies of the book are currently available in the system, the book has been placed on your Wish List and you will be notified when it becomes available again. If the book was on your Wish List when it was offered to you, you have gone back to your previous position in the Wish List queue for the book. We hope that you are able to get a copy of this book from another sender soon!"

Since there is no other copy of the book it is the same sender each time and for some reason she simply does not mail the book. Do I have any recourse other than buying the book at amazon.com?

Thanks.

I would notify TPTB using the "Contact Us" below.  She should mail the book if she's posting it and shouldn't keep letting it timeout.   As far as other options, it is on your wish list.  The next person that posts it should send it to you.

Very frustrating I know, but eventually you will get that book.

I would think if it is the same sender, their bookshelf would be placed on "hold" for not sending out the book.

There is a set of secret statistics to trigger the account to be flagged.  This seems to have not yet reached the required percentage.  Contacting PBS would flag the account.

You can check that the sender is the same one in the Transaction Archive.

If it's the same person doing this over and over, then reporting them would be a good idea. You don't want them doing it for a 4th go-round. I would have been seeing red by time-out number two.

Did you look each time it was posted to see if it was the same sender?  It may not be.  If it was then you may want to contact PBS so they can put a hold on the account and contact the sender to clarify some rules.  The system may see the time outs but it also sees them logging back on and posting books. The computer probably doesn't recognize it as the same book being reposted and timing out and so doesn't flag the account because the log ons and book posting make it still look active.  (if that makes any sense).

Or it could just be that you've had a run of people who couldn't or jsut didn't mail for whatever reason.

I'm unclear on that part, were all 3 the same member?  If so, yes consider contacting PBS admin.  Frustrating if different senders, and thank you for helping weed out inactive members.

I recently requested 5 copies of a classic for one of the teachers at school.  I wondered how long the books had been languishing on member bookshelves, how long it would take to receive the books, and how many would time-out altogether.  The few other time's I've used this feature of Gold Key membership at least a couple have been delayed and/or timed out.  Not this time, all were accepted, mailed, and arrived withing 10 days...go figure.

Hope you receive the book soon Elizabeth!

Yes, I've checked the transaction archive, the member accepting the offer each time is the same person. I will notify PBS, thanks.

Probably for the best Elizabth.  If the member posting that book has RL issues and is not/cannot mail at this tme, they should stop posting the book until RL improves and they can follow through on the obligation.

yes

The only way to know if they were all from the same sender would be if you clicked the PM button at the time and made a note of the name there.  Could have been three new members who posted a bunch of books but never followed through.

Patty--Looking in your Transaction Archive like Elizabeth said she did will also show the cancelled transactions.  When I just checked my TA, it shows 12 different cancelled transactions and the who the sender was in each of those transactions.

Patty, yes, it was the SAME member each time who agreed to send the book, then did not. If it were 3 different members then I'd be disappointed but not complaining.

I'm kinda curious to know what book it was. I've let requests time out if I don't have access to a car, but I don't say I'll mail if I can't and I know how frustrating it can be when you order a nonwishlist book and then somehow it never makes it to you, times out and ends up on your wishlist. It's happened to me twice in the last two months.

Of course you're both right -- sorry.  I'd been mulling over a puzzle regarding RCs being declined and still had that on my mind.  A declined RC doesn't show in the archive, but an accepted WL book does.  My bad.
