hey all I know this isn't the right place to ask this question but this forum seems to be more watched than the other ones. I just found out that swapadvd started charging an additional .49 that much come out of your account to order a dvd, in addition to the credit you always needed to order a dvd which seems a little bit ridiculous. does anyone know if paperbackswap is going to start that fee as well? thanks.

No, there are no plans for PBS to start that too.

Thanks Sarah, I'm glad. I'm really annoyed about the dvd fee though, I think that once I use up my credits, I will have to leave the site.

I got the email too from swap dvd.  I actually wasn't surprised.  The sister site of both, "swapacd", has charged the same .49 fee since I joined it several years ago.  When I asked on the site why this fee was charged in addition to the credit, I was told by other members that it was used to cover the breakage of cd's when they are shipped and damaged in the mail.

I think there would have been less panic over this whole thing if they'd given more than 4 days notice.

no one on there told me why-also if a dvd is cracked you report it and get a credit back, I don't see why everyone should have to pay more for that.

Basically, if you buy postage, then the credit is guaranteed for both sides.  That comes out of the fee.  If there isn't enough money to cover the credits, then the site would work as a negative cash flow.

I'd rather pay a yearly fee or something, that 49cents is just annoying.
