I am so mad!!! I have been told by clerks at PO that If I have mail that is already to go I can just leave it at teh counter if there is a line. So,yesterday I made a special trip to teh PO to drop off a heavy book. There was nobody at the counter so I left it there.Today I not only recived that book back with a note saying it has to be brought INTO the PO BUT I also got two OTHER items retuened for insufficient postage.I reweighed them and they are fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooooooooooooooooooo mad!! I feel sorry for whoever is working on Monday morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One post office I used to go to would just take the packages and do whatever with them, but it always made me really nervous.

I am constantly amazed at how the rules seem to differ from one post office to another.

Not only are we allowed to just drop stuff off at ours without handing it to an employee, we even have credit accounts for frequent customers! I've never heard of any other post office doing that.

did you use regular stamps or metered type postage?  if you used anything but stamps you don't have to give it to anyone.  it is only when it is over 13 oz and stamped (vs metered type) that you have to give it to someone.

I'd be rather ticked too!
