Sorry if this question has been answered before, I did a search but I couldn't find any posts relating to my question...

When you are mailing a book using the APC, do you choose "large envelope" or "package"?

I go back and forth every time I use the machine and would hate to have a book returned to me for choosing the wrong option.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I believe that if you are using media mail, it is irrelevant.

Thanks for the responses.

Considering the difference between first class and media mail is usually 20-30 cents, I tend to always use First Class.  Also, a few times that I have mailed a book media mail with a USPS employee, the amount PBS had estimated was wrong.  So I tend not to trust PBS's amount.

Large envelopes must be flexable and no more than 3/4 inch thick to go through machinery. Longest length must be shorter than 15 inches. You cannot use delivery confirmation on a large envelope unless you send it priority. Clear as mud, right? patti

I always choose package but unless it is light enough to go first class it really doesn't matter

I have a small sheet of paper smaller than a credit card that I have the different weights and prices on it for media mail that I keep in my purse. When I get to the APC machine I act like I'm going to mail a package until I get to the wieght part. I then compare the wieght to the paper and go back and buy the stamp that way.
