I use Pay pal for all my postage. I recently received a request from someone that has APO,AE as the city and state. I realize this is some type of armed forces address (??? - excuse my ignorance). Pay pal does not give me the option to enter this - it wants a state. Can someone help me out? Can I even use Pay Pal for this address?

You're probably going to have to take this one to the PO because you have to fill out a Customs form.  It's a simple form, but they won't get the package without it.  Also, because it's going to an APO (this is how our armed forces receive their mail when their outside the US), if you send it media mail, it will probably go lost before they get it as it goes by ship.  It's not much more to send it first class (unless it's a heavy book/s), and it usually gets there within a week.

I can't answer about paypal though.  HTH.  Pat

That's weird...I sent one last month using the PBS printable postage to an APO and didn't have any trouble, nor was I asked to do a customs form. It's already been scanned in many times along the way and actually has 'arrival at unit' listed now. I suppose if there's going to be a problem with it, it will come to light now. I thought that you didn't need a customs form for an APO address unless it was over a certain weight?

My PO guy said the little one for under 1lb, the big one for over 1 lb.

As for Pay Pal, did you try putting in APO as the city and AE as the state? AE is an option in the drop down menu.

I use the PBS online postage for my APO addresses and they go right in. You don't have to fill out customs forms this way either. You can't use Paypal shipping for APO's. I tried when my son first got an APO address and it does not work. Use the PBS postage,

I had to fill out the customs form when I used PBS postage and DC for the APO addresses.  Wonder what's the difference?

Folks, I ship ten to twenty packages a week to APO/FPO/DPO addresses.  Customs forms are mandatory for all packages to those addresses.  If you don't fill out the customs forms there's a good chance the package will be rejected, or destroyed as contraband.
