ARC stands for Advance Reader Copy.  It is also called an uncorrected proof.  It is not the final version of the book and is sent out to people for review before the publication date.  Typically ARC's still have errors or mistakes in them too.

Advanced Reader Copy

Sometimes sent by publishers for reviews.  Some can be exactly the same as the book printed - others have a different cover and could be an uncorrected copy.

ARCs come in a variety of formats Dahlia.  Some look almost exactly like the final book, but the cover will be marked ARC or Uncorrected Proof, Not for Resale.  Others are larger format with solid, one color covers with basic black printing.  I've also seen ARCs that are spiral bound.  So you have to watch for printing or any indication on the front and/or back cover the book is an unpostable ARC.

Ok then! Thanks, I just saw a lot of people saying:

THESE ARE ARCs!

And I wondered what that meant :) Thanks much, although I don't think I'll be requesting any. I'd rather another copy :)

Thanks yall :)

Member occassionaly receive ARCs through FIFO.  If this happens to you Dahlia, make sure to mark them RWAP as ARCs are unpostable and must not be posted FIFO.

ARCs can be swapped in the Book Bazaar and genre forums Tammie, either for a credit (wishlisted) or for deals, whichever you prefer.

Occasionally, an ARC will be more than "the same book just with some errors still" Occasionally, there will be complete chunks of the story changed, possibly even the entire ending. Depending on what stage the ARC was issued. Most times it isn't that big of a deal, but there's enough times that I don't want to chance reading a half different story than everybody else in the world read. And that's the biggest reason they are not postable.

Tammie, here is a dedicated thread for ARC's from the Book Bazaar:

List Your ARC's here {Guidelines (Post 1) and ARC's (Posts 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6

I am the one who keeps it organized (as much as my time allows!) and I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have!
