I have a bunch of books without ISBN codes - instead they have ASIN codes, which are not accepted by the system.  I checked each book on Amazon to find ISBN codes - and did find many of the ISBNs.

Is the only way to list these books by putting in the info individually?  Yikes.

If there is no ISBN - you do have to put them in manually with a number (usually a 5 digit number) that is unique to that book.  It won't be found on an ISBN search - but you can put tags on the other ISBN's with the unique PBS  number so others can find it.

If a book is already in the PBS database without a 10 or 13 digit ISBN, it is possible to look it up by title and/or author. Most of the listings will have a 5 digit ISBN already assigned by the PBS database. If you find the book by searching through Posted Books or All Books, click on the title in the search result to go to the book information page. Verify the book is the same and choose Post This Book on the right.

Neither one of these are accepted methods of posting a book to PBS. You must use the ISBN printed on the book. If no ISBN is printed, you need to add it through the non-ISBN process. The short ISBN numbers are assigned to one specific copy of a book and should never be reused unless someone is reposting one they received through the system.

Please read PBS posting guidelines before posting books. If you post a book by an ISBN that is not on the book, or reuse a short ISBN with anything differing on your book, you will need to give the credit back if asked and will be out credit, postage and the book.

Sometimes the number is inside the front cover of the older or British books.

Also, on the verso (back) of the title page, or the spine.

Cheers,
