The member did word it politely and I am in a non-smoking household.  This was a brand new book I bought for myself.   However, I don't want to get burned if she thinks it smells like smoke and when I think it doesn't and couldn't smell like it has a smoke odor.

"I prefer books with no obvious smoke odor.  This is a personal preference, not an allergy, so if you can't smell smoke that's good enough for me.  Thank you!"

If I didn't smoke (non-smoking household) and I bought it brand new, I'd send it.  Pat

Absolutely, I'd send it.  They gave you plenty of "outs."  yes

I would send it. Wrap in plastic so that if the package encounters a smoker along the way the smell can get to the book.

Sounds pretty safe to send it.  I would do as suggested and wrap it in plastic before I put it in the envelope.

Yup--I'd send it too.  I accept almost all no-smoking RCs.  The only ones I turn down are ones that say something like "never been in a smoking environment".  I'll even accept that one if I didn't buy the book used, because I know my book meets the RC.

I do have a couple books that reeked of smoke when I received them.  I let them air out away from my other books for quite a while and I no longer detect any smoke smell on them.  For these books, I wouldn't send them to anyone with a no smoking RC.  If they have a more sensitive nose than I do, they might still be able to pick up the smoke smell.

I'd feel very comfortable with that one, because she says if you can't smell smoke that's good enough for me. so you would have no need to refund a credit for any reason.

I would accept this RC. This sounds like a reasonable person.

Simply put, yes, I would send it out as long as I did not smell any smoke (I also have Hubby smell just to double check.)   smiley

I would wrap it up with a half smoked cigar and include return postage just for kicks.  lol

I got a box of books from eBay once with a cigarette butt in the bottom! It was the grossest thing EVER :( :(

I would totally accept that RC. I have a very sensitive nose, and have no trouble accepting any non-smoking RCs.
