On August 10th, I automatically received my request for a wishlist book. At that time there were 303 wishers. Now it is down to 299.

The sender "accepted" on that date. It is now August 16th. That is 6 days past the date. According to the help docs, it is to be returned to the wishlist at the end of the 5th day. So, why is it still on my request file and not back at #1 on the wishlist? Meanwhile, the other 3 wishers are probably getting their copy.

If they chose a mail by date of 8/15 or 8/16 then they'd have 2 days after that to mark it mailed.

OK well just checked the help docs and Accepted means they chose Will Mail in 2 Days.  Which means it would have timed out by now.

Are you sure it didn't cancel it and then someone posted it right away? This could be a whole different person. Or that same person missed the mail by date adn reposted it quickly and it went right to you again.

sorry repeating what you already know should read the post more clearly.

I agree with Mary - check to see if the name of the sender is the same and it hasn't already rolled over to the next member with the book.

I just checked my transaction archive, nothing in there. It is the same member since August 10th.

Connie - I just checked deadlines etc and it should have cancelled the 5th day at 11.  I am wondering if today is considered the 5th day?

Accepted just means they said they could mail it - it would be 5 days from the day they accepted!  Then 2 days to mark it mailed.  So if they don't check in today, it'll probably cancel by tomorrow.

I don't know. I would think it would have been cancelled on the 15th, which was yesterday. I've had other books go back on my wishlist very methodically on the 5th day. I'm stumped on this one!

Rhonda, I wondered about that, too. But, according to the help docs, if there is no mail-by-date, then the book is to be cancelled by the end of the 5th day, which was yesterday. The word "accepted" is the only word there, no mail-by-date.

Rhonda- this is what I thought then I read the help docs and I think I confused myself.  They have 5 days to mail it from the time it was accepted but they have 2 more days to marked it mailed - so a total of 7 days to marked it mailed?

Connie -did she print a wrapper?

I checked the help docs after I first posted.  It says if it says "accepted" then they chose the 2 day mail option-which should mean it timed out on the 14th if they gave the 11th & 12th as the 2 full days.

The help docs say that if someone choose the I can Mail Later button then it shows the date they chose to mail.  That would put it at timing out on 16th or 17th but it would show a mail by date and not just "accepted".

Jubead, no, she did not print a wrapper, yet. The wishlisted book is 'Prairie Tale".

This is what it says on my requested file page: Requested on:  08/10/09 3:01 p.m. ET

                                                                                     Status: Accepted

LOL, jubead, I'm thinking the same thing. It's driving me crazy, too! Thanks for asking Live Help! Hey, there are over 100 views of this post, so we are not the only ones who don't know the answer! Hopefully, we will soon.

Connie the TG agreed that it is 5 days if she clicked on accepted.    On the main page it says accepted and not waiting for member right - sorry if this sounds like a dumb question.  At what time did she accept it?   If it was after 11pm I am wondering if it will time out tonight at 11pm?  If not then I would ask PBS to look into it, but let me know because it is driving me nuts.

It doesn't have a time for when she accepted it. It looks just like the post three above your last post. It's driving me nuts, too!LOL

At least the TG agrees with us!

I just wrote to PBS through 'Contact Us' about the situation. Of course, it says your wait may take 24 to 48 hours to hear their answer. I will definitely come back here after I hear what they have to say. Now there are over 130 views of this post, so noone knows the answer! lol

I really don't understand the deadlines here as a receiver.  When you agree to send a book, it's very clear what you need to do by when.  When you're waiting on your books, no idea.  I wish PBS would give you specific dates on the receiver end, too.

Connie, the upside is that, even if this transaction times out, hopefully you'll have the book come up again soon since the wishlist seems to be moving quickly.

I agree, Purvi. I don't know when she accepted my request, as it doesn't give a time or date. That only comes up when it is accepted-printed.

Connie click on the Details button on the request. That should show you exactly when the request was accepted. The 8/10 date is the date you requested it, not the date it was accepted. The sender has 5 days from the acceptance date to mark the book mailed.

OMG Cathy, thanks so much! Well, that explains it! She accepted it on August 14th! That means she has until the end of August 19th! Gees, now I feel silly that I didn't think of clicking the details button. I will from now on. Sorry, everyone, I was just going by what was shown right on the page. Boy, I learn something from you all everyday here on the forums. You are all great!

I received my reply back from PBS. That was quick! Same answer as Cathy told me to do. All is well and now hoping to receive my WL book soon.

Just a little add on.  I haven't really looked but I've had books time out and mine didn't time out at the time I thought they would, get ready, they timed out a about 3 in the morning.  So the person actually had the five days and a few more hours.

Plus, if it does time out since it's a WL book you go back to #1.

I had one WL book that went through four people before I had someone accept it.  That was me sending not receiving.

I think that the reason PBS does everything 3 hours after midnight is that PBS is on the East coast, but the West Coast is midnight 3 hours after that so everyone has a chance before the dealines.  Also , doing things like maintenance is easier when there are the fewest people on the site.

PS - Of course, this doesn't help anyone in HI and AK.
