When I get an email saying:

"your request for the book ...has been accepted into our system at PaperBackSwap. In the next couple of days you should receive an email stating that the book is on its way!"

does it mean that the owner of the book has clicked the button saying he/she will mail within the next 2 or 5 days, or does it just mean that it's in the system, and may be awaiting the member's attention.

If the former, I'd recommend that the message say something like:

"your request for the book ...has been accepted by the book's owner, and he has promised to mail it in the next two days."

or

"your request for the book ...has been accepted by the book's owner, and he has promised to mail it in the next five days."

depending on what the owner has done.

I get this when Wishlist books are posted into the system and my order is activated. It doesn't mean the person has accepted the order as far as I can tell because I have had these e-mails and then gotten it turned down because of RCs.

I've wondered if it is the 1 hour buyers remorse notification? Giving you a change to go out and cancel the order before the sender sees it.

It means your request went through - you will be able to see when the person actually accepts on the "Books I've Requested" tab on your main page.  HTH!
