Hi. All day today I have been trying to access my bookshelf and I get an error message. I can go to any other part of the site with no problems. I have tried shutting down my computer, clearing cookies, running virus/spyware scans - nothing helped. Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions about how to fix it? I sent a post to the PBS people, but it takes a while to get a response and I really wanted to get in there today while I had time to double check what I have posted against what I have here to make sure that there are no errors. THANKS!

I'm sure it probably doesnt help to know but I was able to access your bookshelf.  Have you tried a live help person? They have always been helpful when I've needed it.

I received a reply from PBS (below). I already tried this, but I'll try it again. Hopefully it's not AOL cause they really stink at fixing things!

Dear Melanie,

We had a brief server crash yesterday in the early evening, but we got things up and running again quickly.  If you are still seeing the maintenance page this is because your browser is showing this old page to you.

Please try clearing the cache in your browser (also called deleting your temporary Internet files). If this does not resolve the issue, then it is due to a bug in AOL's proxy servers and you will need to report it to them to get it resolved. You can also get around this bug by using a different browser, such as Firefox, or a different computer that does not connect to the Internet through AOL.

We hope this information is helpful. Have a great day!

it is the cache in your browser.  are you on IE or firefox?  look at browsing history - delete the link to your bookshelf.

If you are using AOL, then they do cache things in their proxy servers, so even clearing your browser cache would not help in that case. You need to find a way into the site that won't go through the AOL proxy servers. The "try a different browser" suggestion may help.

hi - I found this online- I am always curious about this stuff.  Anyway the description is reversed from ours - through the AOL proxy fine but can't through another browser.  AOL has it's own cache - so here is the link- you can run through it and see if it helps.  Now this is based on the ans your received back referencing AOL.  I didn't see anywhere in your post what you were using to access the site.    best of luck.
