Hey everyone! My wonderful DH and DS got me a Nook for Christmas and made me one very happy lady! :) I know I want a cover for it (would love suggestions - hard/silicone/etc) but was wondering what other accessories you'd consider must-haves for your ereaders.

I'll probably want a book light of some sort, but am leery of them clipping to the device.

I don't have to clip my light to my Nook . I have the M-Edge cover in purple and the M-Edge light slides into the case behind the Nook. Here's a pic of mine.

A must have for ME is a pretty skin. :)

Ooh, I'm liking the looks of that M-Edge light, Colleen! I love that you slip it into the cover and not have to worry about scratching and rubbing against the device. That's what I was most worried about.

It won't rub at all because the light slides behind the Nook, but it slides into a pocket that doesn't actually touch your device. So I think that combo would be perfect for you. When you are done using the light, it folds down and stores right in the case on the side of the Nook. It's fantabulous!

Hi,

I just got a nook color for Christmas sent to me from my Father! AWESOME!!!!

I went to B&N and bought screen protectors and a cover right away.

I think it is better to go to a store where you can actually see them in person, some of them look a lot different than they do on the internet.

I ended up buying this one - http://gifts.barnesandnoble.com/Dessin-Cover-in-Marine/e/9781616865054/?cds2Pid=35616  - and I love it! Make sure that you look to see if it is for the nook or nook color, they do say on the package. I wanted one with a pocket on the inside so I could keep the cleaning cloth and the extra screen protector in there. Its perfect. I wanted something bright, not black or brown. I was looking for pink but I settled for Turquoise.

Barbara, you found a light at the Dollar Tree?? Dang, I'm going to have to run into ours tomorrow while I'm in town and see if they have any! Do they clip onto the cover or do they slide inside the case like Colleen's?

I was thinking about just making myself a padded cover since I can sew and have some really pretty fabric, but I'm wondering if the fabric wouldn't scratch it up. Plus, I kinda want a harder case than just fabric, but it might be fine for now. Hmm...

Only accessory I have for my Sony is a Sony cover, bought from Ebay at a much cheaper price than anywhere else.  Seller said the box had been damaged but I couldn't find any when I got it.

I've been looking at lights and cases too.   Does anyone have this light?  I read in bed a lot.  Curious on opinions.

I got my cover from Ebay, it looks a lot like Colleen's M-Edge, also in purple, I got it on ebay for $14 (and free shipping). I'm still deciding on a book light. And I got my screen protector from overstock for about $3.00 (free shipping again)..I can't believe how much they are trying to charge for pretty much the same screen protectors at B&N.

I have found the cutest covers for the Nook on Etsy. I think that's my next purchase on payday!

They were out of all but the boring black and brown (its a colour Nook, why would I want a boring cover?) on Sunday so I ordered the one above in pink.  Turns out that the manufacturer has cancelled all orders!  So tonight, I'm going to order one online.  I'll check out ebay but unless I find one for a GREAT price, I'll order from bn.com.  Only because I got a gift card specifically to pay for that and the cleaning cloth.

A good accessory I use for my Kindle is a stand. Sometimes when I'm reading at a table, its annoying to have to hold up the device so I can see the screen better, so a stand was a must-have for me.

The M-edge cover that I have converts into a stand.  However, I've only used it once when I was at a restaurant by myself (seldom happens but I was on a long, driving trip).  This was very useful, though.  I also have a Kandle, which clips on to my Kindle and my Sony.

I bought a DecalGirl skin for my Kindle 2.  I like it because I figured that the white Kindle would get dirty from my fingers sooner or later.  My Sony 350, however, has such a small silver surface (other than the screen), I didn't think that I needed a skin for it.  I did buy the Sony cover for it.  I feel as though my covers give the readers some protection (in my purse or from a drop).

I got a Kindle cover when I first got the Kindle.  I didn't like the weight it added, but did like that it stood up with the cover.  I eat alone most of the time so like the stand part.  I took the cover off and got a carrying case on sale for $4.99 at Target.  I love the carrying case and just use the Kindle without a cover.  I am, however, looking for the perfect skin for my Kindle and will consider getting just a stand.

These covers tempt me to get another cover for my Kindle.  They are real works of art. http://www.oberondesign.com/Kindle2.php

I got my Kindle for Christmas from hubby.   He also got the light and screen protectors.   My daughter got a pretty red cover. Wonderful !   Then I also bought a car charger for it.   It is actually for a cell phone,  but works perfectly fine.   I think I am all set.

No, I still haven't made it there, Barbara. But soon, hopefully! We live 20 minutes outside of town, so I always wait every few days to run errands. I do the Y twice a week, but it's on the complete opposite side of town (naturally). :) I really hope they have the lights though! I have a cover and screen protector on their way that I found on Ebay, so all I need is a good light!

Hmm, thanks for the warning on the backside of the Nook. I was looking at skins but put that on my "later" list, but maybe I'll have to look into choosing which one I want and get it sooner. But maybe the cover will help keep the back clean, too. Hrm... Have you tried Magic Eraser? That might work. Or rubbing alcohol?

Oh, gah. I'm such a non-girl. :-(  I have a basic cover, just the plain Kindle cover, black, bottom of the line and a clip-on light. Period. Same with the Nook. Got a plain Nook cover although it's apple green - it was either that or orange, didn't have much selection at that time in that store.

BTW, I've never used a screen protector and my K1, now almost 3 years old, that went with me everywhere when I was traveling, outdoors, at the beach, playgrounds, whatever, doesn't have any scratches or marks at all. I think the cover is protective for one thing and it seems to be a different material than the screen on my cell phone that scratches rather easily. I've had the Nook only about 4 months but no scratches on it either although I don't carry it around as much.
