Adam Carr (Chester, UK, 1981) is a curator and writer. He is currently a guest curator for Castello di Rivoli, Museum of Contemporary Art. Previously, he has worked for Institute of Contemporary Arts, London (2005 as a guest curator and 2006 as a nominator and writer for Beck's Futures). From 2006 to 2007, he was an adjunct curator for Kadist Art Foundation in Paris and in 2007 he became a visiting professor at Oslo National Academy of the Arts, Norway. He was one of the curators of Artissima (16, 2009), the Turin art fair, in particular for its Present Future section, and curator of the exhibition THE STORE. He is editor in chief of Archive Journal, published by Archive Books.
He has curated a number of exhibitions to date including, SATURDAY (Berlin, 2010) Gallery, Galerie, Galleria (Turin, 2010); In Print (e-flux, New York, 2010); Out Of Sight (Mexico City, 2008 & Naples, 2008); Library (Berlin, 2008); THE STORE (Vilnius, 2008 & Turin, 2009); WithOut (Paris 2007/08); The Moment You Realise You Are Lost (Berlin, 2007); Some Time Waiting (Paris, 2007); The Show Will Be Open When The Show Will Be Closed ( London, 2006 & Paris, 2006); Just For One Day (Paris, 2006); En Route: Via Another Route (Trans-Siberian train: Moscow to Beijing, 2005); Post Notes ( London, 2005 & Minneapolis, 2005); and Between Projects: A Solo Exhibition by Mungo Thomson (Paris 2007).He is currently curating Exhibition, Exhibition an exhibition for Castello di Rivoli, Museum of Contemporary Art, Rivoli, Turin, which will take place later this year.
In addition to his role as editor in chief of Archive Journal, he is a regular, contributing writer for Flash Art and Mousse Magazine and has written texts for numerous other art publications including Afterall, Aprior, CIEL VARIABLE, File Magazine, Flash Art (Italia), Janus Magazine, Kaleidoscope, Neue Review, W [Art], Spike Art Quarterly, UOVO and Newspaper Jan Mot. Monographic texts he has written include those on the work of Jonathan Monk, Robert Barry, Tris Vonna-Michell, Angela Bulloch, Jason Dodge, Dexter Sinister, Rodney Graham, Mandla Reuter, Gintaras Didziapetris, Hannah Rickards, Flávia Müller Medeiros, Tobias Rehberger, Danh Vo, Dan Rees, Simon Fujiwara, Nina Beier and Marie Lund, Jordan Wolfson and Mungo Thomson.
