This author defines addiction as anything that takes away our choices, so traditional addictions are discussed but also things we get caught up in. (I've been adicted to work--my brother says I'm remedial in kick-back.) The element of the spirit is, obviously, extremely powerful and essential in facing an addiction and escaping from it. The author develops his themes carefully and slowly drew me in. It's somewhat scholarly (can be heavy reading) but it's also insightful and well worth reading.
