I wanted to add a book to my bookshelf from outside PBS, in anticipation of posting it at some point. So I posted it thinking I could just put it on hold during or after the process.

Instead, it immediately went to "pending" another user's request.

Is there no way to add books without posting them for a swap?

If they're WL then you need to put your account on vacation then put the WL book on individual hold before you come off vacation.

That's what I use the "TBR pile" for...any book in the house I haven't yet read and plan to post goes on there, and then when I do post it, I post directly from the TBR pile. That way you don't have to monkey around with holds, accidentally posting the book, etc.

I'm with Cheryl, add it to your TBR list.

I use use the TBR too.  Then nothing gets accidentally put on WL hold before I want.
