OK, this is something I should know...after I printed out a label with postage for an order, the requester added a second book to the order.  The second book will push the weight into the one- to two-pound rate.  Can I just add a stamp to the original label to bring the postage up to the higher rate?  Or do I  have to send the second book separately?

Thanks!  :)

yes you can do that (I would suggest you use  APC stamps (that way you can still drop into the blue mailbox

otherwise you might have to hand to a postal worker at the post office

As long as it is not ALL stamps, you can still bluebox it, so you can add stamps to the printed posted and send it off whatever method you wish, it still gets by the 13oz rule.

Thanks, guys -- I just sent it off with an extra stamp affixed, so I'll keep my fingers crossed!

One thing to keep in mind is that additional pounds of weight at Media Mail rate are only 35c each, so you don't need a whole 42c stamp.  You can print one for 35c (I think) at the APC, and add that on.  This is the main reason why sending multiple books is so much less expensive to send.  I sent a package with 5 (!) books in it today (all small old PB's) for only the 1-2 lb. rate!  ($2.58)

That did occur to me, Winston, but I figured I'd spend more in gas going to the post office to get the ARC stamp than I'd save on postage.  :)  Now that I think about it, though, it might not be a bad idea to keep some $0.35 ARC stamps around.  (I seem to think that once you've printed out your first batch of stamps over a dollar, you can print lower value ones -- but I haven't tried it.)

On my last APC transaction, I told the machine "Yes, I intend multiple transactions", bought a 2.23, and then bought five .01's for a 2.28 net charge.
