OKay so in the fall of 2007 I ordered an American History text book from one person and the matching workbook from another. I got the workbook but the text book was deemed lost in the mail. I set that book to auto request since I already had paid a credit to get the workbook. The textbook was finally re-entered into the system on March 04th 2009. I have attempted to keep my account on hold because of compter problems. But it was set up to auto request that book and send to me. The sending member shipped it March 05th. I never got it. I got a PM from the member asking if I recieved it. (actually she pm'd me twice because it took a few days for me to get to a comp to answer her) At any rate I did answer and say no I never got the book. I NEVER clicked it recieved.  It now shows received into my shelf on April 21st. After it was considered lost in the mail. I don't have this book. I asked the sender if she had delivery confirmation or something for it and she says no. I don't understand how the book is now considered received after it was lost in the mail and I don't have it.

I am upset for several reasons. First I don't like that twice I have ordered this book and both times it doesn't show. The work book I ordered and paid a credit for is worthless with out it. Second, now I have paid an additional credit for a book I don't have. I really wanted that book have been waiting over a year for it. Third I sent a PM to the live help thats supposed to answer in 15 minutes yesterday and have no response. I have also sent a message to my librarian with no response.

Now what?

Hmm.  Is it possible that you missed a couple of requests or wishlist books and that TPTB took notice of your account?  Because I know that when an account is abandoned, TPTB will automagically say that the book has been received.  Whatever the case, I would use the Contact Us button to let TPTB know about this situation and that you haven't received the book and I'm sure they will sort things out for you.

Where you unable to access your account for a long period of time? If an account looks inactive and a book goes lost, the system will mark the book as received for you. Live Help and The Librarian cannot see your account so they probably cannot help much. If you use the Contact Us link at the bottom right under Company and ask the site, they can look at the transaction and tell you what happened.

If you weren't logging in, and your account wasn't on vacation hold, and it took more than a week for you to respond to the sender's PMs, then that's most likely the reason. If you were also ignoring wish list offers or not responding to requests for your books during that time, then those things would also contribute to your account looking abandoned.
