I wasn't sure where to put this, so I hope it was okay to do it here.

I know there are tough times everywhere and I do help out in other ways outside of PBS, but I was wondering if there might be a family or two here that could REALLY use some help making sure their kids at least have one or two things under the tree this year.

I know in past employment, different areas in our business would "adopt" families/kids and buy for them.  Is there anything already out here like that?

Any advice on how to find those who really do need assistance without offending anyone?

Thanks!
Nicole

Nicole, I would love to be a part of this! Let me know if I can help in any way! Maybe it would be best if the members who wants to help could just let it be known here. Then anyone who needs help could privately contact us through PM's. Just an idea!

Yes, PMs might be better.  Sure, if you want to help, just post that you're looking for someone to help out.  Anyone can PM you and you can decide what, if anything, you're going to do.  There are no expectations or requirements.  :)

Thanks!

Nicole, should we do it here on this post or create a new one? Maybe have the Subject :Christmas Wishes Granted!

Then, who ever wants to help could just add their name to the post. Of course we would have to have a cut off date to ensure the gifts have time to arrive before Christmas. Just brain storming! I'll go with whatever you think best!

A Precious idea, BTW !

I'm leaving for the airport right now and my internet access will be touch and go for the next four days.  I'm already working with one family.  If you would like to post a new subject like you mentioned, that might be great, although I don't want anyone to think they have to do this.

It might be best to just wait and see if anyone contacts you and then see where we are :) I agree with the time cut off date.

Thanks!
Nicole

You can contact your local church as they have information on Angel Tree's (presents for children whose parents are in jail)

I have a few students who will not be having a Christmas due to finances. Please let me know fi you are able to help out. Small trinkets, Gift cards and or books would be greatly appreciated for them! I am doing what I can on my own but can use some help. :)
