A fun to read science fiction romance by Jayne Ann Krentz in one of her aka by-lines. Takes place on the planet called Harmony--a world where there is maze of green glowing passageways beneath the planet's surface constructed by an ancient lost and long gone civilization. There's lots of paranormal types on Harmony, including para-archaeologists like the heroine Lydia Smith.

This is book 2 of the series - and you really need to read book 1: After Dark to truly understand all of what is going on.
Lydia Smith is basking in the glow of her new romance with Emmett London when Mercer Wyatt, the guild boss is shot and nearly killed in an attempted murder. On his way into surgery, Mercer names Emmett as the new temporary guild boss to take over until he recovers. Lydia despises everything about the guild as guild politics tend to trump other authorities on the planet Harmony. In the meantime, Lydia is having difficulties of her own, a man has summoned her to see him indicating that he has information about her "lost weekend" when she got lost in the alien catacombs beneath the human cities, but when she goes to see him, he is dead. So Lydia and Emmett are both trying to solve their own mysteries.

Another tale set on Castle's planet, Harmony, where dust bunnies aren't dangerous unless you see their teeth---but by then it's too late!
From back cover: Life is complicated for Lydia Smith. She's working at that tacky, third-rate museum, Shrimpton's House of Ancient Horrors, trying to salvage her career in para-archeology--and dating the most dangerous man in town. Just when she thinks she might be getting things under control, she stumbles over a dead body and discovers that her lover has a secret past that could get him killed. Just to top it off, there's trouble brewing underground in the eerie, glowing green passageways of the Dead City.
Of course, all of these problems pale in comparison to the most pressing issue: Lydia has been invited to the Restoration Ball, and she hasn't got a thing to wear . . .
