"Don't use words too big for the subject. Don't say 'infinitely' when you mean 'very'; otherwise you'll have no word left when you want to talk about something really infinite." – C.S. Lewis
In "After the Hangover", R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr. covers the past few decades of Conservative Politics, and lays out a roadmap for a Conversative rise to power. At least, that's what he attempts to do. Unfortunately the message is buried deep in a thorny brush of obscure words.
I've finished every book I've ever read. Even two books on Blackwater and the Secret Service that were horribly written and garnered one star reviews from me. This one is a first, I just couldn't do it. I requested this book because I thought I'd find the topic interesting, but the prose was so wordy, so complex that just became a mess of letters. I'm not daft, but thirty pages in and my brain hurt. I set it down a few weeks ago and haven't picked it up since, nor do I intend to.
If you're a huge fan of R. Emmett Tyrrell, Jr. this may be the right book for you. I just couldn't get past the author's choice of words.
