Twelfth in the series set in the village of Carsely in the Cotswolds and featuring amateur sleuth Agatha Raisin. In this book, Agatha takes an extended holiday to Robinson Crusoe Island and begins to work through her disappointment over her failed marriage. When she returns to the village, rain and flooding await, and when Agatha sees the body of a young girl she'd encountered at her beauty parlor a few days previously floating down the bloated river, she has a new mystery to occupy her time. As usual, she runs afoul of the police, who admonish her to leave the detecting to the professionals. A new neighbor moves into James' old cottage next door, and he's a detective fiction writer. Agatha staunchly makes up her mind to be totally uninterested romantically, but accepts his friendly offer to help her investigate. A typical enjoyable light read in this series, and I did not guess the killer until close to the end which was a nice surprise.

A very clever mystery set in the English countryside that is light and fun to read. The heroine is a middle-aged woman who really can make you laugh at yourself!

"Marital bliss was short-lived for Agatha. Her marriage was a disaster from the beginning, and in the end, he left her - for God. He decided to join a monastery.

She goes on a holiday alone, to try to feel better. She discovers one of her fellow travelers has died under suspicious circumstances. The police say it's suicide, but Agatha suspects the woman's fiance killed her. Agatha and her new (handsome and single)neighbor wotk together to prove the police wrong."

Agatha is at times cranky, ornery, warm and caring. She uses her wits and her instincts to solve myteries - even when others have given up.

I love all the Agatha Raisin Mysteries; but this is one of my favorites as after trying to figure out who did it and why; I was like "Forget it! I'll just find out in the end" because there were SO many possabilies. It was CRAZY GOOD! Really worth reading if you're trying Agatha for the first time (or any of the other books:D )

I am beginning to dislike Agatha! She has made me stay up WAAAY past my bedtime too often lately. In this one Agatha goes on vacation to an island to get away from memories after James leaves her shortly after their marriage and enters a monastery. Or does he?? A murder occurs after she leaves the island. After returning home a body is found and Agatha recalls the murder victim from the island and thinks this could be similar so of course she has to get involved. Disguises, attenpts on her life - all this while meeting the new neighbor, a mystery writer, who purchased James' house.

See why she has been keeping me up at night???

Agatha is an attractive, middle aged women seeking adventure, romance and freedom from boredom, but often finding the wrong man and murder. Some of her experiences are humorous and hair raising.
