This book is primarily set in nineteenth century Louisiana. It is about a young woman who is wise in the ways of the world, but not necessarily of the heart. She seems to attract only trouble when it comes to her dealiings with men. It is set during a time when dueling was an accepted way of dealing with disagreements and a sign of defending your honor or being labeled a coward.The story has many strong characters and was a riveting read for me. Simone learns many lessons as the story progresses. I hope that you will enjoy this book as much as I did.
