Does PBS or any other site have an alert system for when a hardcover book is available for pre-order in paperback?

PBS doesn't...other sites might. Our library system has an 'author alert' system where you can be notified when your favorite authors have books available to put on pre-request before they are released.

The only one I'm familiar with is Amazon.  I've just seen that recently.

How do you do it on amazon?  I think I can figure out author alert here.  Both are what I was looking for, thanks!

I don't believe Amazon has that service any more. If I recall correctly, they ended that years ago. :( There is a site called "Crap I missed it" where you can get updates on books, movies, concerts, a bunch of things... the books are only by author, but it's the only such service I've been able to find.
