If you like Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series, you will love this series as well. Full of suspense to the end.

What can I say about a Sue Grafton novel. I just love the Kinsey Malone character. I haven't read her in awhile ....sorry if I spelled it wrong. Kinsey is someone I would like to know. She is smart, and funny. Sue's books are exciting.

I have to say, this was not my favorite mystery book. Perhaps it's just that it was the first in the series. I do have "B is for Burglar", so I will give another one a chance. After all, I didn't especially enjoy Janet Evanovich's "One for the Money", but I loved "Two for the Dough."
I didn't find the central character, Private Investigator Kinsey Millhone, to be especially sympathetic. I became a little confused between some of the characters at one time. I found the writing to be a little "lumpy" at times. I didn't find the romantic interest to be very interesting. Sometimes there was a reference to something only briefly mentioned (and forgotten) earlier in the book. I did guess the ending long before it came. The book wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. It just kind of washed over me.

First in the series and a really good read. I think this is one of the best in the series, but then again I am only up to "O".

I had thought I had found another crime series I would like. I was sadly mistaken. The characters are flat. The main character, Kinsey, is far from likable. I couldn't connect with her. I will skip the rest of the series.

My first introduction to Sue Grafton and I really enjoyed her character Kinsey. A fun read.

A for Alibi establishes Kinsey Milhone solidly in a mystery full of red herrings. I have read a few alphabet mysteries of Sue Grafton before this one and I always appreciate her sense of organization in telling the story and down to earth independent attitude. Even when Kinsey is underpressure she's got it together! As a serious reader, I highly recommend Graftons Alphabet series, I'm going tokeep reading all the way to Z!

Laurence Fif was a slick divorce lawyer and slippery ladies' man. Until someone killed him. The jury believed it was his pretty young wife, Nikki, so they sent her to prison for eight years. Now Nikki's out on parole and Kinsey Millhone's in for trouble. Nikki hires Kinsey to discover who really killed her husband. But the trail is eight years cold, and at the end is a chilling twist even Kinsey doesn't suspect--a second eight-year-old murder and a brand-new corpse.

Eh, pretty routine mystery story. Won't be reading the rest of the series, as this was kind of boring to me.

Sue Grafton's first 'alphabet' murder. Kihnsey is put on the trail of the real killer of Laurence Fife. His wife spent eight years in prison, now she is out, and both Kinsey & Nikki do not know there was a second corpse in the past and a new corpse in their future.

This book will keep you guessing until the end. I love the characters and the realism that Grafton creates. You see the characters as truly human-- complete with weaknesses and flaws.

A nice quick mystery read featuring an intriguing private eye. First in a series.....can't wait to start book two!
This is the first book in Sue Grafton's Alphabet Murder Series. This is a fun series to follow with great characters.
Quick. Concise. Enjoyable. A whodunit right to the end!
This is the initial book in the vastly popular Alphabet series of murder mysteries by Sue Grafton. It introduces Kinsey Millhone, the down-to-earth private investigator who's captured America's interest.

This book is a nice, simple read. Perfect for a day at the beach. I loved the charcters and did not figure out who had done it till the very end. I will probally read more by Sue Grafton in the future.
I'm loving this series! Sue Grafton is one of the few authors that always seems to make me laugh out loud. I'm half-way through "F" for Fugitive and I still love them. Private Investigator, Kinsey Milhone is tough, sassy, and hilarious! Definitely worth reading all they way through the alphabet!
Kinsey is always a hoot. She makes me laugh and keeps me reading.

The start of the Kinsey Millhone series. I loved it.
This the first book of a series dealing with a female private investigator that continues so far into letter "T". Kinsey is a very believeable character; however, she does not age,so all the action takes place in the 1980's without all the new techno gadgets now available. It is still a great series.
it was OK
A good start to the series. Kinsey is an enjoyable character and this is a pretty good 'whodunit'.
Good start for a series, enjoyed the characters and the plot.

A Kinsey Millhone mystery
This book had me second guessing myself as to who the bad guy was. I kept thinking "he did it" then would think "well, maybe not". In the end I was surprised by one of the villians.
The first Kinsey Millhone mystery and a really good read.
I have really enjoyed all of Sue Grafton'd books.
really enjoyed book..I plan to read the whole series on Kinsey Millhone
Great intro to the Kinsey Milhone mysteries - or if you're already familiar with the unique detective Kinsey - go back to the beginning!
The first book in the Kinsey Millhone, PI series. Very good and an easy book to read. There are so many details and characters involved that you have a hard time figuring out who did it.
You will love Kinsey Millhone in her first appearance as a fascinating private detective.

A great Kinsey Millhone mystery.
The first of the Alphabet novels.
This is a great series. Sue Grafton gets better with each book. I've read them all twice!
Fun reading. First one in the Kinsey Millhone mystery group.
good book
Sue Grafton delivers another exciting mystery! Her private eye, Kinsey Millhone, is one of the most refreshing detectives in mystery novels today. I thoroughly enjoy her dry wit and highly recommend this novel to any mystery lover.
When Laurence Fife was murdered, few mourned his passing. A prominent divorce attorney with a reputation for single-minded ruthlessness on behalf of his clients, Fife was also rumored to be a dedicated philanderer. Plenty of people in the picturesque Southern California town of Santa Teresa had a reason to want him dead. Including, thought the cops, his young and beautiful wife, Nikki. With motive, access, and opportunity, Nikki was their number one suspect. The jury thought so too.
Eight years later and out on parole, Nikki Fife hires Kinsey Millhone to find out who really killed her late husband.
A trail that is eight years cold. A trail that reaches out to enfold a bitter, wealthy, and foul-mouthed old woman and a young boy, born deaf, whose memory cannot be trusted. A trail that leads to a lawyer defensively loyal to a dead partner -- and disarmingly attractive to Millhone; to an ex-wife, brave, lucid, lovely -- and still angry over Fife's betrayal of her; to a not-so-young secretary with too high a salary for too few skills -- and too many debts left owing: The trail twists to include every turn until it finally twists back on itself with a killer cunning enough to get away with murder.

This is my first Sue Grafton book. So what better way to start then A is for Alibi. This was a fast read and I really enjoyed the Kinsey Millhone character. I will definately start reading the rest of the alphabet.
The first of Ms. Grafton's series. Kinsey solves an 8 year old murder mystery.
Kinsey Millhone, sassy private eye in Santa Teresa, California, is featured in this series - first book
This is the first of a series of mystery novels featuring Detective Kinsey Millhone. I just love her style of writing and wittiness. I have read them all.
"A" is for "Awesome."
This, obviously, is the first title in the alphabetical series by this bestselling author. Our heroine Kinsey Millhone, a private investigator living in California, is hired by a woman who was jailed for killing her husband, a slick divorce lawyer & ladiesman. She wants Kinsey to find the real killer but the trial is 8 years old.
I love this series - a good read.
I wasn't sure I liked it but by the time I finished, I couldn't wait to start "B".
First in the Sue Grafton series of "alphabet" books.

Read like a 40's detective story. Simple-to-the-point writing and an intriguing story line. I will be getting the second one.

Enjoyable. This book has been passed around a couple of times. The cover is in good shape and nothing is ripped but it *is* a used book.
Kinsey Millhone and has a very straight-forward approach to crime. She's is an especially memorable detective. She's tough and no-nonsense, but still has her vulnerable points. She's smart, but not a superwoman; rather, a believable, down-to-earth heroine.
The matter-of-fact diagloge is effective & I enjoyed the insights into Kinsey's detection technique along the way.
