I gave this book an 8 because I really loved the story behind the book and the descriptions given, but I was not totally thrilled with the ending. I had hoped the author would tell us more than she did. It was a good read though and I would recommend it.

Fantastic read! Not the usual script. First in a series about 3 brothers.....nice to read a romance about realistic people who have made mistakes.

This is the first of the Mcloud Brothers trilogy. There is a must read book before this one called "Impossible Dreams". While it is not part of the trilogy, it is a must read for anyone who plans on reading this book. Cleo, the heroine of "Almost Perfect" is a central character in "Imp. Dreams" and her background story is told there. That story is very important and is not recapped in "Almost Perfect"

This book is very good. It has drama, romance and humor. Jarad McCloud is the middle brother of 3 very smart, very hot men. He is a cartoonist, famous for his nationally syndicated comic strip. He is also fed up with fame and all the trappings. He escapes to the SC shore to try and come up with a new hit that will make Hollywoods animated world take notice. Things are NEVER that easy!!!

Cleo Alyssum is the "old witch" who is renting him the run down beach bungalo on her property. She is quiet, elusive and doesn't want or need friends, men or love. A recovering addict, she is just trying to live on the up and up long enough to get her young son back. That is all she cares about - until Jarad arrives and shakes up her world, her home and her heart.

Great story of love and survival and overcoming even the toughest odds.

All of Patrica Rice's books are delightful this one was no exception .I like that she brought back Cleo from Impossible Dreams.

While Cleo Alyssum has been clean and sober for months, she still has problems with self-esteem. Her drug habit landed her in jail, separated her from her son, Matty, and left her with a distrust for all males. Cleo's goals are simple, she wants to make a success of her business and make a home for herself and her child.

Then along comes Jared McCloud a cartoonist of some fame. While looking for a secluded place to stay, he meets and falls for Cleo. While Cleo tries to keep her distance from people, Jared enters her life and makes her feel things she has no business feeling.

From back cover:

Celebrated cartoonist Jared McCloud is plumb out of laughs. So he rents a secluded beach house for the fall to unblock his creative juices--and ends up falling for the reluctant landlady whose beautiful green-eyed glare reads like a "No Trespassing" sign against the world.

Cleo Alyssum isn't exactly a recluse, though living on an island and avoiding people aren't the actions of a social butterfly. Cleo simply has more important things to do than to chat with the sexy, artistic, impossibly bullheaded hunk living in her guest house. Yet somehow Jared and his devilish charm inch their way into her life, reaching the warm places her cold exterior cleverly hides. Will Cleo open her heart to a man who falls short of her expectations? After all, it wasn't her intention to fall for someone who is almost perfect...
