Second of 2-volume set. J. Gardner Wilkinson writes at the height of imperial-plundering. But this Victorian-era introduction to Egyptian culture is extremely well-written and impressive in its scope. How did Egyptians get drunk? Where did they get indigo? How did they mint gold?
