I'm looking for any deals on Anne Perry's Thomas & Charlotte Pitt series and the William Monk series. Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!

I just found out that Anne Perry ( Juliet Hulme)  was involved in a murder when she was 16.  I would never buy one of her books now.

I know they have discussed the murder and her part in it somewhere in the forums.  You might try a forums search to read what everyone had to say about it then.  I haven't read her and most likely won't after finding out about it all.  It was a pretty brutal killing.  They say "Write about what you know"........and she does write murder mysteries...........I'm just sayin'!

There is a movie with Kate Winslet called Heavenly Creatures all about it, and it's horrifying.  I can't read Perry now either because of it.  It just creeps me out.

I knew about the murder thing and read her anyway. I don't let an author's personal life color my views of their writing or stop me from reading their work. That said, I only read two of Perry's Thomas Pitt books because I thought they were boring. LOL

I liked the William Monk series-and read many of them before I knew of the writer's personal life.  That said, it did not change my opinion of her books, nor did it prevent me from continuing with the series.  I think the novels are well written and a wonderful way to spend my time.

I agree, I don't let an author's personal life color my views of their writing, just like I don't read the tabloid magazines to help me make an opinion on what movies, music, or television I want to spend my time and attention with.  I have read a lot of bad novels written by "good" people and did not continue with the author because of their writing skills-not because of the author's reputation.

Oh, and I don't have any of her books left for deals....sorry!  Good luck!
