"Dear L.,

We wanted to let you know that the book you requested on 8/30/2008 'Bring Out Your Dead: The Great Plague of Yellow Fever in Philadelphia in 1793 (Studies in Health Illness and Caregiving)' by J. H. Powell cannot be mailed because of your Requestor Conditions.

The member who this book was ordered from had this to say....

Just received this"

WTHeck?  So..Let me get this straight.... she just received this book but posted it and then refused it due to my *conditions*?

I swear to God members here are getting more and more "confused" to put it politely!

It sounds like she doesn't understand the rules. Perhaps she thinks that she should add books to her shelf because she owns them?

I wonder if they clicked that "take this book off Hold" that appears when you log in that you have received a book.  I don't know if that automatically adds it to your shelf or not, as I have never clicked that when I get a book.

No, that option removes it from your shelf.

My guess is she accidentally posted the book and instead of cancelling, she declined for conditions, not realizing that it'll just pass it on to the next wisher.

I agree that for a reading site there are a lot of people who can't follow rules that are easily found in writing on the website. But it's because people don't take the time to read them.  They just post books and don't pay attention to the litle reminders and pop ups or bother to consult the rules.

my rc states: Please, due to allergies I cannot receive books that are currently in a smoking home (you don't have to know the history...if no one smokes in your house then yes, I want the book)

just a couple days ago i had someone decline saying that they didnt smoke but it was a used book. i was like "hello, can you not read?"

maybe she meant she just received your requestor conditions and that's why she's declining? odd.

My guess is that the person either meant to add the book to TBR and posted it by mistake, or the person took it off hold on her bookshelf. It was an accident.

Shoot, I just had to cancel an order and tell the person I'd added the book back as non-ISBN because I went to accept the order and saw that the listing was hardback, not PPB. How did I miss that? (Well, I'll tell you why... I was posting several books with my 2-year-old DS tugging at me to go with him at the same time, LOL!)

Anyway, people make mistakes, and it's especially possible if the person is a newer member. I'd just let it go.

I really like the way you have this worded.  Clear, simple, and answers all the questions.

I finally had to cancel my RC's that were worded EXACTLY like this because too many poeple could not understand the wording and I lost out on 7 WL books.

I had a WL book offered to me last week then the poster cancelled the request because "I haven't read this yet".  OK, so why did you post it?  I wasn't hurting for books to read but it was still strange.

Sounds like they took it off of hold on their shelf.
