For those of you who don't follow the discussions at HFO I thought I'd share this here as well.

http://www.amazon.com/review/R1OXFW5PHC12YO/ref=cm_cd_NOREF?_encoding=UTF8&cdPage=&asin=039306915X&newContentNum=2&cdMSG=addedToThread&store=books&newContentID=Mx1EJN99TXU25HF#CustomerDiscussionsNRPB

Not sure how long before it will be taken down by Amazon but she also wrote her own *review*,

That definitely takes one more book off of the TBR pile angry

Wow.  Just...wow.

I'm really surprised.  This does NOT sound like Denise.  Not at all.  I wonder what's going on..

Oh, my goodness. That is one nasty post. Are we quite sure it actually is Giardina? If so, what stupidity! I think publishers need to add another clause to an author's contract - you will never, ever, under any circumstances, attack a reviewer, never, ever, lol.

Well the name on the profile is the same on the Amazon Wish List, so unless there's someone else out there with the same name......

Anyone *know* her? Sounds like Vicki might.

I agree with you Valli.  It does reflect poorly on the authors when they behave this way.  It's like shooting yourself in the foot.  Is it the agent or publisher who needs to tell these authors that their behavior is making them look ridiculous?

What's interesting is that I wrote to the publisher for Candace Sam' during her embarrassing kerfuffle and I got an email back saying they had no control over what their authors did outside of the books. They don't do themselves any favors, though. She can delete her own review, but the comments will linger there forever.

I don't 'know' Denise enough to shoot her an email and ask her if she's reviewing and remarking on her own book on Amazon.  Unfortunately!  But I have heard her speak, and know about her (being a West Virginian) and I have to say, this just doesn't sound like her.  Of course, it could be her.  If it is, I have to say she has gone completely off the deep end.

Giardina is a tireless voice in the struggle to contain mountaintop removal; she's a deacon in the Episcopal Church; she ran for governor of W.Va. She has been a published author for years.  I just don't see her trolling Amazon...but, I guess stranger things have happened.

I don't know anything about Giardina - her books or her activism - but that comment and her self-review were as hypersensitive as a fanbrat's. Maybe she's going through a bad patch personally and something finally hit critical mass, but it's still no excuse to open a can of WTF whoopass on a 3 star review.
