I've received at least 4 or 5 books the last month that do not fit book condition guidelines. I've only marked 1 as RWAP, because the other ones were either for my keeper shelf or my kid's and as long as they're readable to us we could care less as long as front and back cover are included. Today though I received one that the pages are completely split in the middle of the book and are detached from the spine quite a bit. No pages are falling out, because the pages all still glued together. The book isn't for my keeper shelf and I was planning on reposting it  to my bookshelf when I'm done.

Will it be acceptable or did I receive yet another unpostable book?

Sounds like you're having a run of bad pbs luck.

Yes, unpostable!  Also, and I know you didn't ask about this, but I would advise you to mark any unpostable you receive as RWAP.  Otherwise, who knows how many more times the sender will be able to get away with sending books in that condition?  I hear what you are saying, they are still readable...so if that's the case, mark RWAP but don't ask for your credit back.  That's what I usually do.

I looked in the book condition guidelines and couldn't find any info on split pages coming apart from the spine. If any of you happen to see it or know where I can find it will you please point me in that direction?

Lisa,

I hadn't thought of that, but will definitely be sure to do mark RWAP in the future, even if it is a keeper. I just hope I won't need to do so for a while.

Thanks for everyone's help!

I just want to ditto Lisa's excellent advice.  You don't have to ask for your credit back -- that's up to you, but you do need to mark problem books as RWP, to give newer members a chance to review the rules, and problem members a chance to get weeded out.

The Book Conditions Guidelines state:

"Binding: Must be intact, with no separation on the inside or outside of the book "

Sorry you're having a run of bad luck.  Must be something in the air, as I'm having one too.

Cheers,

Catt

Whether or not a member plans to keep a book or re-post it, all of those that are unpostable when received, should be marked as such - to discourage those members from continuing to send out crap.
