I rec'd a book I believe was damaged in shipping due to poor wrapping...trade sized pb in a large envelope...must have slide around a lot.  Not sure exactly how to describe it but it is bent up terrible.  Creased in random places has dents as if small heavy objects were sat upon it.  Now the book doesn't really open up right.  I cannot seem to figure out if it should be reported damaged (in my book it's damaged and I'm pretty easy on conditions! ) 

Do I ask for my credit back?  How do I describe this...if anyone can figure out what I"m talking about.  I'd be more than willing to send photos!

That is a tough one. Why don't you post a couple of pictures so that we can see exactly what damage occured.

Frankly, I'm not sure if I would ask for my credit back or not.  The packaging of the book WAS bad, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the mangling of the package by the PO was because of the bad packaging.  I've seen books that were wrapped well get mangled just as badly.

Now if the cover of the package was ripped...... Well, that's a different story.  I've received many packages where the packaging was ripped because it was far too big for the book - and therefore the book "slid around a lot".  In most cases the book survived just fine, but in a few cases the book was also damaged.   In those cases I always ask for a credit refund.

It should be reported as RWP - damaged by USPS. That is what that option is for. On whether you ask for you credit back, thats up to you. You should tell them that the packaging led to the damage by the USPS. Sounds like they would have beat the snot out of it no matter what, but if the book had no chances of making it to you because of the packaging, then the sender is at fault too and they may give back the credit.
