I would be interested in hearing from those of you who have self-published non-scholarly books through one of the many vanity presses—sorry, couldn’t think of a better term off-hand but imagine an entity like Lulu would an example—and felt the experience and business transaction in which you were involved was a favorable one. Additionally, I would appreciate knowing: 1) the name of the company; 2) your self-publishing goals going in; 3) the degree to which you had control over design elements of your publication; 4) if you or the company were considered the ownerof your work’s ISBN; 5) and any advice (or cautionary tales!) you would like to impart on the process.
