On 5/29 I was offered one of my WL books that has been on my WL for a long time.  I looked at the member's bookshelf for other possibilities and noticed that all of the around 80 books on her shelf were listed 3/1/2009.  She has not responded to my WL request.  I find it really odd that she would have added one book almost 3 months after setting up her shelf and then not respond to the request promptly.  Could there be an error somewhere in the PBS system that is causing a wrong member and shelf being shown?  Could there have been THAT much of a delay in it being offered to me.  I have not PMed the member because I figure if she were checking PBS she would have responded to the request.  I'm puzzled.

Maybe she had her shelf on vacation hold and put the book on while her shelf was on hold and then on 5/29, her shelf came off of vacation hold?

She may have only been posting WL books or books that were requested very quickly-that's why the bookshelf is not always a good guide. If people looked at my shelf that would be the case.  I go months sometimes without a book actually going on my shelf and staying since I mostly post WL books.

Also the 29th was a friday-if she only has computer access M-F then she'll probably accept on Monday.  You get 5 days to accept a book request.

Sometimes I wait a few days to accept a request because I may have another WL book I posted timing out on wishers and I just want to mail them both together.  I go to the post office once a week-unless I have a lot of orders.  If a book request comes in the day after I go to the PO (usually a Mon or Tues) then I might let it sit a day or two to get me to the following week in hopes that another order will come and I can mail them together.

I don't think you should be worried --- my guess is the 3/1 corresponds with her join date so all of her books gots listed that day. Many could have been ordered since then but just none added. That's not all that unusual if she has many more outlets for her books. I have several outlets for my used books - not all get posted to my shelf here.

Then she finished reading this book you're waiting for and listed it. She may not realize it was wishlisted so didn't check immediately back. OR,many people don't respond right away because they many not be able to mail out immediately. The will delay accepting it so they have more time to mail.  All perfectly within their rights.

I had someone do the same thing to me just recently.  She posted a wishlisted book, it came to me and then she took 3 days to accept it. She then pushed out the mailing date to the last day. Not a big deal at all .... like most of us, I have more than enough to read to keep me busy.

I don't think it's a PBS glitch. All you can do is let her have her 5 days and if it lapses you'll go back on the waiting list. It's nothing to worry about.

Thanks all!  You came up with possibilities that I didn't think of.  And I'm not worried about it...just found it odd but now I see how it might not be.
