Just saw the new wishlist....

Changed every one to NO for Auto Request.   Then I went to check my account......came back and the entire WL is reset to YES on Auto request.

Anybody figure out how to make it stay????  I'm not going to be happy if "they" start spending my credits for me.....Let's figure this out before we end up with a lot of cancelled transactions.......I've got more than one version of some books on my WL ......

Edited to add:

Just read the Help Doc. and it says if I go to Wishlist Settings....select Options....I can set it for No auto request.    Well, I'm searching, but am not finding these things!!!!    I'll update if I do.......

I think they are still working out everything but according to an older article about the "new" wishlist you should be able to put it on a 48 hour hold in options.  This is the link that someone else showed me:

Whoops!  I see you just read it!  I can't find the options tab either.  Makes me think they are still working out everything!

Thats what I'm thinking too, Kate!  Thanks for the link btw.  I had never read it before even though its old :)

I would like to think they would send out some sort of email stating that made kind of a big change to the wish list.  Hopefully its coming!

Actually Kate, they did try the notify before it happened with the WL changes in the past. It resulted in such massive complaining, foot stomping, and threats from members to leave if they didn't get their way. I figure they probably decided they might as well get yelled at for something they did do, not something that might happen from something they might do in the future.

Give em time to sort out the bugs. Obviously they didn't intend for that to not work so they couldn't really let us know that it wouldn't function right.

eta: The *New WL* Help Doc has been there for almost 2 years. I don't think all of it is relevant to the changes going on right now.

Getting a system wide change like this is hard.  They are probably sure about this or it wouldn't be still there in the middle of the day.  They'll be looking to work out the bugs. Looks like the auto-request will be the default and you'll have to choose the 48 hr. hold.  Exact opposite of what happened with the old WL.

Thanks for that link.....I went searching after posting.....hoping to find something.

I came home to find a WL book offered to me....so it wasn't Auto requested ....even though my entire list says they are set for it.

Apparently the box on the right side of the WL doesn't work.  I went down the ENTIRE list.....reset everyone of them.....only to have it default back when I changed the page...RRRrrrrr!!!!!  lol

Not only confused emails.......but I can see a whole bunch of cancelled transactions.....if the Auto-request goes into effect before the membership has the option to shut if off if they prefer the 48 hour window.

Change is never easy!!!!!  :)

That's the problem Ruth.........I just did choose it.........and it all reverted right back to Auto.....The Help Doc. explain how to set it.......but the links to do so are what we're looking for......

They aren't through testing and setting up.  It will take a while.  This is the 31st and any announcements may come in the April Newswire. Right now not all the books are really on auto R - just the ones you already had like that.

Kate - here it seems they seek to be forgiven and not ask for permission thus the sudden onset of changes!  they aren't going to bow to members' complaints unless it's a very large per centage of the membership complaining.

Thank you Ruth......I guess a PM telling me that my list says everything is Auto requested....when in actuality it is not......might have been helpful.

Would have saved me a whole bunch of useless clicks!!!!  LOL

and I bet the same can be said for most members.  - Oh, Dear, you have not been around long enough.  When it comes to the WL changes, their virtual ears have been burned off and had they not been burned off, they probably tore them off so they didn't have to listen anymore. They

As I said, they probably did not expect the toggle from Auto-request to 48-hr hold to not work, so how would they have warned us about that?

Their aren't in customer service. The site is free to use so there are no customers.

Got this back in reply to me PM about the new WL

"We have recorded your comments; we are taking all member comments and suggestions into consideration while we work on the upgrade."

Of course - I want to keep the RL.  So they will continue doing what they are doing.

Some people wouldn't have known it had been set to auto-request at all, so they wouldn't even have known to change it.

That's one reason I think it's only in the test stage.  Most people don't have books on autoR  so it's probably just in the test stage and not really active yet.  Don't really panic - keep checking back to see what all is happening later.  I can't see PBS putting everybody on  Auto R without telling them they have so much time to make changes.  It would foul things up really badly.

I'm glad to know that my books won't be auto-requested.  some I end up changing my mind on but unless I am on vacation want the option to decline.

Over in CMT, members are reporting that their WL has books added to it.........old ones they already got.......some they don't recognize.  One member says she has 209...that's what caused her to find the old ones relisted.

Probably a good idea to print and monitor your lists during this time.

That is another reason I think they're still working on the "upgrade".  They have to work out a lot of things - and unfortunately, they didn't tell us they were going to be down for a certain amount of time for systems upgrade.  I agree that would have been nice - but it didn't happen that way.  So there will be some anomalies like old books on current WL.  Nothing ever goes smoothly when trying to implement new formats.

This new format sounds very similar to the one used in Swapacd. If that's true, I think the wish list format here will convert to something similar. All of the items on your wish list and those you've received are in one place .... the items that are on your TBR shelf now would convert to 'hold' status -- your wish list items are auto-request or 48 hour hold.

What I'm not sure is what will happen with the reminder list .. I think a lot of us use it for different reasons ... trips to the library book sale, checking # in inventory are two I can think of.

This is a pretty big change, if it if were communicated ahead of time, I think we would still experience some quirks in how everything works for a while.

Please inundate the PBS team with PM's asking them to keep the RL.  I'll probably be able to deal with the other changes - but the RL is a big one for me to swallow!!

Dang, I'm glad I found you guys already talking about this.  I WAS freaking out thinking that my credits were gonna get wasted on stuff I just "semi-want' ya know???  I'm calm now.   (Except for the part about changing the RL. . . yikes!!!)
