Strangeness....

I play tons of games and for the last 24 hours or so, I've only recieved a couple of the dozens of messages that show in my club communications tab.  They are not in my spam folder either.

Is anyone else having this issue?

The same question was posted in CMT Forum yesterday. I'd recommend sending in Feedback via the Contact Us link just so they know how many accounts are being affected and which internet providers it involves.

Mine are not coming through on my email either.   Overnight I was offered a book, but never got an email about it.  I just stumbled upon it when I logged onto the site.

This morning one of my books was received and the person left a "thank you".  I never got a noticed about the book being received.  Found out when I saw a PM from the person who got the book.

I'll contact the site and let them know.

I am having the same issue.  No e-mail notifications for all the functions that I normally receive them for.  I have sent a PM to TPTB so hopefully a solution will be found soon.

If I access PBS using Mozilla Firefox and click on Club Communications, I get a blank screen.

If I access PBS using Google Chrome, when I click on Club Communications I get an error message.

The website encountered an error while retrievinghttp://www.paperbackswap.com/members/club_communications/index.php. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.

Here are some suggestions:

HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

If I access PBS using Google Chrome, when I click on Club Communications I get an error message.

This is not a universal symptom, I use Chrome and my CC is fine on 2 different machines.

I have also been getting my emails it looks like.

Letting the Team know so that they can isolate the accounts with problems an identify it is the best. Use Feedback via the Contact Us link in the lower right uder Company.

Sent a message.  I only received 2 of the 6 emails I should have for the replies to this thread.

I just came here to look and see if I was the only one -- I am also not getting my email notices.

Same here.  I should have gotten a notice today but it didn't arrive in my inbox.  Checked the spam too, not there either.

Everyone who is having this issue needs to send a message via the Contact Us link in the lower right under Company. Be sure to tell them what you are using to access PBS -  IE, Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.  so that they can determine how large a scope the problem really is and how many users are impacted.

When I signed back on tonight, there was a message on My Account page asking me to update my e-mail address because a message sent to me had bounced back.  It is my correct e-mail and I only have 13 messages in my inbox so it is not due to my mailbox being over full.

My club communications folder says I received an auto-response email from the team saying they got my feedback... but of course I did not receive that email either.

Maybe some email providers blacklisted PBS?

I have not gotten PBS e-mails for a couple days. I have mailed out 12 books after requests and bought PBS funds for shipping, yet nothing. I have my spam filter turned off and I haven't hit any kind of message limit. Messages are coming in from other places, just not PBS or SACD. Each time I log in, it asks me to re-enter my e-mail address, which is correct, but I have to do it to proceed. I have notified them twice through the contact us link and also through SwapaCD, so they do know I am having problems. I contacted my e-mail provider and they gave me an address for PBS to forward a bounced message to so they could tell them why it bounced. I gave that to them on PBS and SACD so hopefully that helps them determine the problem.

Just got the message to confirm my e-mail address again when I logged on today...the e-mail address they have on file is right.  I subscribe to the "Daily Digest" and "Daily Wishlist" e-mails and neither one of those got through last night.  This is the third time I've been asked to verify my address when logging on to PBS.  I haven't received allmy e-mailsform PBS over the last few days, but a few of them have gotten through.  I'll go let them know that I'm experiencng the problem as well.

I was wondering if I was the only one having this issue.

I got a book request last night (which I knew might happen since it was WL), but I didn't get an email notification for it.

Here's the generic PBS response I received:

We are sorry that you are not getting our emails. You can see copies of our recent emails in your Club Communications file, linked from the top of your My Account main page. If you see an email listed on the Club Communications page, that means we did send it; if you did not get it, that means that your email provider did not deliver it.  Email providers will do this from time to time - they will choose to block some categories of the emails we send, while delivering the others.

You can correct this by adding the PBS system email addresses (librarian@paperbackswap.com and noreply@paperbackswap.com) to your email account address book.  You should also check your "blocked senders" list if your email account has one, to be sure our emails are not on that list.

If you continue to miss emails despite having done this, you should read the Help doc "If you think you aren't getting your PBS emails..." in the Help Center for more information, and consider using a different (non-Yahoo, non-Hotmail) email address for your PBS account.

Went ahead and added those 2 emails to my address book.  Hopefully that will help.  More seem to be coming through today.  I guess I'll have to just continue to check the club communications folder or my watched list to make sure I don't miss any turns for games.

I am still getting nothing even though I have ensured that (librarian@paperbackswap.com and noreply@paperbackswap.com) are in my safe sender list.

Since PBS is advising the use of non-Yahoo and non-Hotmail e-mail addresses, I am wondering if it is an issue with those providers.  I just opened a different hotmail account and added it to my PBS account prior to seeing this information about not using Hotmail.   I will wait and see if I get any PBS communications messages to the new account and then may try opening a G-mail account.

pbs is on my safe sender list

telling us to start another account with a different provider is a cop out...

I already have more email addy's than I want and they all get too much stuff, lol

just checked club communications again and the page is still totally blank- so if they're not showing up there, how would a different email addy matter??

I am not seeing anything other than an error message under Club Communications but I opened a gmail account, changed my settings and I am starting to get notifications.

However, that said, I would like to only have to use one e-mail account, the one which I have had for years and just because it is a Hotmail account should not make a difference.  It worked before Friday, why not now.

I know everyone is frustrated, but please keep in mind that this is a Holiday weekend.  I'm sure PBS will be on top of it when everyone gets back to the office.

Hotmail and Yahoo aggressively block spam, and also frequently block legitimate emails.  If you do a search for "hotmail is blocking my email" you'll find both problems and possible solutions.

It worked before Friday, why not now.

Because your e-mail provider may have started blocking at least one PBS address.  Who and what they block change, and a result will be that a bunch of people suddently stop getting a type of email.  I'm sure PBS will work on a solution after the holiday.  And most likely lots of websites are effected by whatever Hotmail (or their filter service) has done, not just ours.

My address is @comcast.net and I am not getting e-mails.  I am sure they will get it figured out after the holiday.

The problem is definitely more widespread than just hotmail/yahoo blocking club communications.  I did send a message to TPTB...I'm sure it'll get straightened out soon.
