The last few hard backs I have rec'd have been wrapped soley with 2 sheets of paper and scotch tape.  Most have arrived in the mail box with the wrapping tucked inside the book, the book completely free of any type of protective covering.  What is going on?  Am I the only one?  It's very frustrating.  I've been lucky enough that most have arrived unharmed but the latest one came with a ripped dust jacket, several ripped pages and what appears to be water damage.   Maybe there should be wrapping instructions that come up automatically when a hardback is requested to be mailed!

PaperBackSwap specifically recommends against using scotch tape, as well as recommending against using just the two pieces of paper from printing the wrapper when wrapping a hardcover book.  I'd say you're having a run of bad luck, as these policies have not changed.  It's all in this document from the Help Center: How to Wrap a Book .  There are quite a few instructions and guidelines that people sometimes ignore, but if those instructions popped up at the appropriate times we'd be up to our ears in tutorials lol.  Your frustration is both valid and shared, but take heart in the fact that it is also usually only an occasional one.  Just try to bear with it, report the damaged books as Received With a Problem, maybe even include a friendly reminder to the Senders to review the packaging suggestions in the Help Center, damaged or not.   I've had horrible luck lately myself, receiving several unpostable books rather close together, but I'm convinced that eventually this phase will pass and things will return to the usual run of quality copy after quality copy.  Eventually you'll find yourself in the middle of a good run, and hopefully it will last longer than the rut you're in now :)

I've been very lucky.  I've received several hard back books and they've all been in really good condition.

I hope what you are experiencing is just a fluke and it will pass.  It's a shame to get a damaged book!
