I have this version on my WL: Scandalous: Scandalized!\Sex Appeal ::  Lori Foster ISBN-13: 9780373773824. I had a buddy PM & ask if I'd like her to post it to my WL. She does & this is the version that she's somehow able to post through my WL: Scandalous - Lori Foster ISBN-13: 9780373836598. Same book, different version, different ISBN, different cover. So how was she able to post this version to my WL, when it was a whole different version/ISBN then I was wishing for? (It's not a big deal on which version I get, but I just don't understand how this happened!)

Also if I search this one in the system Scandalous: Scandalized!\Sex Appeal ::  Lori Foster ISBN-13: 9780373773824 it says it's still on my WL, but when I go to my WL it's not on there anywhere. I've gone through my WL 2 or 3 times & searched my WL for both title & author & it's not on there.

Anyone know what's going on here? How did this all happen?

Thank you!!

Leann, when someone posts directly to your wishlist all they have to do is click on a button saying "post this book".  They don't have to enter an ISBN--so, she just saw the title, and did not check the ISBN.

The book would have been removed from your wishlist as soon as she posted it, I'm guessing the "wishlist" designation on the book info will be removed after you refresh a time or two.

Yeah, I understand she doesn't have to enter an ISBN, it just posts directly to me. But if she would have just clicked on the "post this book" icon from my WL, it would show up as the version on my WL: Scandalous: Scandalized!\Sex Appeal ::  Lori Foster ISBN-13: 9780373773824 (which it should since she didn't have to enter an ISBN), not a whole different version, that I didn't even know existed until it showed up as wish granted. How did she get an entire different ISBN granted from my WL?

I'm just wondering why it still says it's on my WL when I search it in the system, but it's actually not on my WL at all anymore? I'm also wondering how it was removed from my WL when it was a whole different ISBN granted to me?

This whole event has me completely confused!!

It keep other versions on your WL until you mark the book received. Then it should ask you do you want the other versions of this book removed?

Also it'll kind of keep your place in line on hold until the book is received. Then if it goes lost, is cancelled or marked RWP it'll unhold you back in your spot.

I'm still not getting the dif version thing.  It sounds to me like they have a dif ISBN but posted to you under the ISBN you have on your WL. Technically you are not supposed to do that. Either that or you had more than 1 version on your WL afterall.

Mary, That's thing the thing though. It's NOT on my WL anymore at all! You know the little area  that says "reminder list", "BIR", "wish list"...when you search books in the system? When I search this book in the system, it says it's still on my WL, but it's not showing up on my WL.

Okay, I'm going to try to explain this a little better. Sorry I'm have trouble getting this across. I really wish I could, because I'm stumped.

So, I have one version on my WL  with other wishers ahead of me. She's going to post it directly to my WL so it comes straight to me, not FIFO. She goes to my WL, clicks on the "post this book" tab, does NOT have to enter an ISBN. But somehow still got an entirely different ISBN to be posted to my WL. An ISBN that is the same book I'm wishing for, but an entire different ISBN, title, publisher, ...I didn't have this version on my WL (or even know it existed). So how was she able to grant me a book I wasn't even wishing for? How was she able to change the ISBN from the one I was wishing for to a different version? If she had clicked on the "post this book" with the actual ISBN I was wishing for it would have showed as that ISBN wish being granted, not a different ISBN.

I really, really hope this makes more since so I can get it figured out!!

This is the one I was on the WL for... http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780373773824-Scandalous+ScandalizedSex+Appeal

This is the one that was offered to me... http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780373836598-Scandalous

So I'm just tring to figure out, if she didn't have to enter an ISBN, then how did she get a different ISBN to be offered to me? One with another wisher ahead of me & wan't even on my WL?

So Leann, you're saying that when you got notification that your wish was granted, the message you got said "your wish was granted for ISBN  XXX" which was different than the one you had on your list?  If you're sure about that, then you're right, it's hard to understand.  I thought you just meant that she posted the wrong ISBN instead of the one you wanted.

Yes Diane, THANK YOU!!! That's exactly what happened. My wish was granted for a book I wasn't wishing for.

Are you sure you didn't have that other version on your WL? When it was posted to you it would remove it from your actual WL so that no one else could pull up your WL and post that version to you. But it could still show up on a book search as being "On My WL" because technically you are stil on WL for that book.  Your position is just being held incase the book goes lost, is cancelled, not marked mailed or is RWP.

I'm positive the one offered to me wasn't on my WL.  Like I said before, I didn't even know this version existed.

Mary:: "When it was posted to you it would remove it from your actual WL so that no one else could pull up your WL and post that version to you. But it could still show up on a book search as being "On My WL" because technically you are still on WL for that book.  Your position is just being held incase the book goes lost, is cancelled, not marked mailed or is RWP."

That explains why I can't find it on my WL, but it still says it's on my WL when I search it in the system. But it also brings me back to, why isn't it on my WL anymore if it was a different version offered to me?

leann - I'd send feedback and ask the site. They can tell you exactly when the other version went onto your WL (who knows maybe you WLed it and forgot about it late one night :)) They can tell you why it shows the way it does and make sure everything is ok. The site can see every single click you make on the site so they will be able to explain it better than us guessing.

Thank Melanie, I've already contacted them. Hopefully they can get it figured out.

I know this wasn't the version that was on my WL, because I had 200 books on my WL, this one was granted, that left me with 199 books on my WL. I went to search my WL for the actual one I was wishing for & it was gone. It's the one that still says it's on my WL when I search it in the system. The one that was offered to me doesn't show as being on my WL when I search it. Which if it says it's on my WL until the transaction is complete as Mary said, it would still say it.

I don't think this is the case, as soon as the WL offer is accepted it should come off of your WL. I have two WL books in my requested window and neither are on my WL nor do they have the Wish List field on the book data page. This is how some people get over 200 on their WL, a wish is granted, they add another book, and then the wish is not fulfilled and the book goes back to their WL so they end up with 201.

ISBN-13: 9780373773824 should still show as on your WL since that one has not been posted to you. Why it doesn't show up on your WL is strange. As for the non-wished for WL grant, I'm guessing that somewhere along the way you did WL it and just forgot. I once e-mailed them about a WL grant 2 days after I got the book, confused as all heck on why I got it twice (same ISBN), they looked and said I'd re-wished it 2 days after the last grant and could tell me everything else I did in that session. I totally did not remember it.

ISBN-13: 9780373773824 isn't on my WL anymore. But like I've said, it still says it's on my WL when I search it here on the PBS system. As for the one being offered that wasn't on my WL, I'm 100% positive it was not, nor has it ever been on my WL.

This must all just be some sort of glitch with the system or something, because there is no way it could have been done on purpose. I'll be sure to let you all know what PBS says when they get back to me.

I thnk there's a bug here. If you click on the wish list button on anybody's post and then click Post this Book next to any random book, you'll be taken to the screen where you normally post books. The ISBN box is filled with the ISBN of the book you clicked on, but you can type any other ISBN there. That's probably what she did.

The bug is that the system still connected it to your wish. As soon as she replaced the ISBN, that book should no longer have been offered to you. It should have gone to FIFO.

Since you already sent it to the PBS Team, I'm sure they'll figure it out and fix it.

I'm wondering if it is possible that she posted the book directly to you, then got that screen asking you if this is the version you have or if you have another version of the same book, and she clicked that she had another version of the same book. I didn't think it would still post to a specific person's wish list if you did that, but maybe it still does.
