I was going to list a cookbook that I got for my bridal shower, called "The Mennonite Treasury of Recipes".  However, there's no ISBN.  If anyone's interested I'd trade for another cookbook.  I'm never going to use this one; there are a lot (245 pages worth) of recipes but I don't like Mennonite food.

So what do you think?  Anyone interested? :)

What kind of cookbooks are you interested in and would want to trade the Mennonite cookbook for?

I'm pretty much interested in anything as long as it's not real exotic or anything.  I've only been cooking for about a year and a half so I'm not exactly a professional. ;)

Unless you are a member of BOB you can't trade cookbooks (or any books) without an exchange of credits.  Check the Help Center.

This is the only reason I don't like this site. They charge you to trade a bunch of books to one person. charge you more money to trade a bunch of books at once.

michelle.  I guarentee you that the minimal price of the BOB membership pays for itself in the first trade or two.  It is actually one of the things that I like MOST about this site!!  LOL

Huh?  This site is free; they do not charge anything for swapping here.

BOB is optional.  Plus, like Paige said - it will pay for itself very quickly (what is it...?  A whoppin' $8.00?)

You don't have to do it via BoB either--but then there needs to be an exchange of credits.  You request from them, and they buddy you a credit for your book (or you post it via no ISBN and they request it from you--better, but a pain and needs coordination so someone else doesn't snag it).

I disagree with the 'not allowed' statement. The site has firm rules about what can be listed and traded through the traditional path - BUT - Look at the games forum to see people trading everything but used socks. (wait... there might have been a 'crafty items' trade sometime.. who knows?) People list 'freebies', esp. 'unpostables' all the time. There is a thread in book bazaar for people to put up books to GIVE away, with no trade, no credit. There are some threads on here about how to do direct trades. Ways mentioned include PMing one another and direct mailing. However, you can also PM each other to get the info to each other, then each of you WL the books you are going to recieve, then each of you reply directly to the WL of each other. There will be a trade of credits, but it will be a one to one trade and so it will all come out in the wash. GL.

Latricia, I'm sorry but that kind of trade is not allowed.  This is from the Help Center clarifying their position on this kind of trade...

Can we swap books for books directly with other members on this site?

Yes, but only if you both subscribe to Box-O-Books.

  • "Creditless" swaps are permitted ONLY between two Boxers.
  • Using the PBS site to conduct an under-the-table book-for-book swap without using credits would be in direct violation of PBS policy, and would put both members' PBS accounts in jeopardy.

Why is this?

  • We have worked very hard on this site, and it has cost us (and continues to cost us) a great deal of money. The Box-O-Books service is one of the few sources of income the site has generated to offset our financial losses, and we are still deeply in the red. Without some financial support we will not be able to continue the club. We are trying to keep the site free for our members, and Box-O-Books was one innovation intended to help us do so.
  • PBS relies greatly on the "honor" system among our members. We are pleased to say that the majority of PBSers are honest and above-board; if that were not so, the club could not continue.
  • We hope that the rule makes sense to you, and that you understand that we are not being unfair or greedy. It is simply that if enough members did this, we would have to close down the club.
