I love BookMooch.  I especially love that it includes international trading, if you are willing to do that (you don't have to, it's just an option.)  But it increases the pool of people who might request your book.  And you can help people living overseas to get hard-to-find English-language books.

I also swap on SwapTree.  I've swapped a lot of books there, but the site does have its problems.  I guess I have a love-hate relationship with that one!

Anyway, just my 2 cents.

The best way to find other sites are to google them. I'm pretty sure that the Founders really don't want folks getting suggestions for other swapping sites.

No links to other swapping sites, or any commercial sites, may appear in any member-contributed content on PBS--not in Forum sigs, nor Forum posts, nor PBS Profiles, nor PMs, nor the Eclectic Pen, nor Reviews or Book Tags.

I use Bookmooch and it's OK.  PBS is much better. But I've found bookmooch to be a good place to send out my unpostables (but still good and readable) and still get a credit for them because you can post a book's condition there.  It can be tricky getting a WL book there but I've managed to get a few.  I also had a few books that were plentiful on PBS get requested right away over there.  Their message boards suck and their website is down alot.

Heather, I don't remember seeing you on the Bazaar (but then again, it's so congested that it would be easy to miss some posts here and there).   You can bump once per day at the Bazaar, as far as I know..... (New here, still trying to learn the ropes).  So make a good advertisement and bump daily over at the B --

Also, have you considered joined the Box-O-Books yet? I love BOB!!

I hate to be a killjoy, but the forum policies state "please do not use the discussion board to ... promote other commercial websites."

Perhaps, Love, you could ask for PMs instead?

Cheers,

Beth

She knows. She posted in CMT apologizing and thanking people for letting her know. She couldn't find this thread and thought it was deleted so she posted it over there.

I have credits for "that other site" that I can't use cause they have hardly any SFF books.  I can't find anyone on that site or this site that wants to swap credits either, so I have 15 credits that are just sitting there.

Threads like this remind me of people at a party saying they aren't having fun, and can anyone else there recommend another party?

Maybe that's just me, but even if this weren't against the rules (which it is), I think it's rude to use the PBS forums to ask for recommendations for other bookswapping sites -- or to recommend them.

Pattie, you have a point but I can see where the OP is coming from.  She wants to get rid of books and perhaps the books she has have multiple copies here but the other sites have little or none.  Case in point, I just gave away a book on another site that had 9 wishers and there were already 13 copies on this site.  I much prefer PBS as my #1 site, but getting rid of a book is getting rid of a book and if I can do it elsewhere faster vs. waiting in the FIFO line then I'm going to do it.

Well one great way to trade books that have multiples already posted is by joining BOB, another is to donate them to a battered womens shelter or a nursing home. Or to the less fortunate family down the street, or to put some in a hospital emergency room waiting room. Or donate them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army or a local charity based thrift store.

"I hate to be a killjoy, but the forum policies states..."

Nobody reads those things. It's been 8 years and I still haven't read my health insurance policy.

Mike, you must be an Aldous Huxley fan?  "Most ignorance is vincible ignorance. We don't know because we don't want to know."  :-)

I also think BookMooch is just ok. PBS is a lot better and bigger. I just heard about SwapTree - I might see what they are about...

I hang out at bookmooch a lot because my books move a lot faster over there then here.  There's more demand because it's international.  I also don't like the credit set up here.  At bookmooch one book added to your shelf gives you 1/10th of a credit.
