Try the House of Night series by PC and Kristen Cast and the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead.

I am partial to Tanya Huff's Blood series, and the sequel Smoke trilogy.

Sunshine by Robin McKinley.  The Art of Arrow Cutting by Stephen Dedman.    And good is kinda vague.  Do you mean scary?  Sexy?  Silly?

Here is a website that reviews vampire fiction.   Lots of choices and variety in vamps.

I just bought "All I want for Christmas is a Vampire" by Kerrelyn Sparks.  I haven't read it yet, but it is set in the present.  About a girl who is trying to find a Vampire to save her friend who is in a psych ward because she claims she was attacked by a vampires.  I don't usually read cutsey books, but this looked good.  I like Kenyon, Feehan, Leigh..................., but not fun cute stuff.

Currently reading Nauti Dreams by Lora Leigh

J.R. Ward - Black Dagger Brotherhood  (very modern, and hot!)

Jeaniene Frost - Night Huntress Series (Bones is just yummy)

Keri Arthur - Riley Jenson Guardian Novels (Really about a Dhampire, but one of her lovers is a vamp)

I'm currently reading all 3 of these series, and can completely vouch for them being awesome!

J. R. Ward's books for heavy reading...love her stuff. And no one ever mentions Michelle Bardsley's series. They're funny, with vamps, ghost, dragons--all kinds of beings--and still has lots of action. I'm reading her most recent "WAIT TILL YOUR VAMPIRE GETS HOME.' So far it's really good.

I like Lyndsay Sands Argeneau family vamps.  A bit of romance thrown in with the stories.  I guess they're really in the romance section but I got a laugh or two out of the family.  Mom vamp is making an effort to get her children married off.

Norma, I liked that entire series! The Christmas one is #5. How to Marry a Millionaire Vampire, Vamps and the City, Be Still My Vampire Heart, The Undead Next Door...the 2nd one I'm not even sure why they had a story really but they show up in another book and I'm guessing they'll show up again. Each book focuses on one vampire's romance though. they're cute and funny and 'romantic'.

another funny romance vampire series is Kathy Love's 'young brothers'.the 4th is about the werewolf sister but the first 2 esp are funny/sexy.
