I know there were problems not too long ago with these hinged covers.  I don't see any recent articles so I am not sure if there are any ongoing problems.  I really like the looks of the hinged Kindle covers that Amazon sells but clearly don't want to buy something that may cause electrical problems with my Kindle!  Anyone know if the current cases are causing any issues?

I don't believe the ones they are selling NOW are causing problems. The lighted one never caused a problem, it was the unlighted ones sold last fall.

So the current unlighted ones are no problem?  The one I have my eye on is the kindle amazon current generation unlighted one.

I wasn't sure if mine was or not, but had the kindle reboot while in the middle of reading. I got a lighted case, which didn't have the 'problem' to start with, and later had a reboot.

I think now it had more to do with the fact that I always test the readers out by putting in a ton of books to see how they programs handle large numbers. (I have more than enough to max out any reader, and test out any SD card readers. I've yet to find a device that can 1) carry them all on an SD card without problems and 2) really has enough internal power to deal with a full load.)

I think mind was more a matter of needing to leave enough internal memory to process data, or they lose their places. (Stuff they don't tell you in the manuals!)

Jordan, that's right. You shouldn't have any problems buying a new one from Amazon. ( I wouldn't buy a used one, you wouldn't know if it was one of the bad lot or not)
